(Whether one is “Arminian”, “Calvinist”, or in-between in their theological bent, there is something to be, shall we say, “wildly joyful” about in knowing that God intimately thought about us and stretched his arms toward us even before “the beginning of time” (2 Timothy 1:8-10 NIV).

Be strong in knowing God knew you, with plans:
before you were born, before you were formed, before commands,
construction began on that special room,
favor, declared heir, painting preceding His offer of salvation’s bloom.
Before the garden, before the fall,
before the first parents were by Spirit formed,
God knew we would need the goodwill of that breath
which first made all things living, to further fill, make born-again fresh.
Far be it from us to conceive such a thing,
to be more than thought of, to be promised renewed being
even before the first was manifest.
Thus Son Incarnate, thus Resurrection!
The prescient task, time could no longer contain,
for favor once promised had to hold sway,
so away in a manger was destiny distilled
in the life of the Babe, God with us, God’s will.
