Father's Day

Father's Day As A National Holiday

In 1966, Lyndon B. Johnson, through an executive order, designated the third Sunday in June as the official day to celebrate Father's Day. However, it wasn't until 1972, during the Nixon administration, that Father's Day was officially recognized as a national holiday.

It's both honorable and appropriate to thank our earthly fathers for their role in giving us life. Give thanks to God for our fathers. Thank our fathers for bringing us into this world. Pray ye, that your father is both alive and nearby to you, and he is able to be an active part of your life and the lives of your family members; not everyone is fortunate to have that present blessing. Peace, comfort, and joy to those who've lost their fathers due to death or abandonment. May God's mercy, and ours, be upon them; and let us pray for the salvation of those still among us. Sometimes we never know their circumstances, but God knows. Pray ye many fond memories of your father on this day. Amen.

Our Father In Heaven

First and foremost this Father's Day, and as we do every day, let us give thanks and honor and praise and glory unto our Creator, our Heavenly Father. O LORD, hear our prayers:

1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise the LORD, O my soul. 2 While I live will I praise the LORD: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being. —Psalms 146:1-2 (KJV)

20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our LORD Jesus Christ; —Ephesians 5:20 (KJV)

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; 19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, —Ephesians 6:18-19 (KJV)

27 For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath given me my petition which I asked of him: —1 Samuel 1:27 (KJV)

9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. — 1 John 1:9 (KJV)

O LORD, thank you for the many blessings we receive from Heaven above; and for the Goodness of God's Will, as He watches His children from on High. All praise, honor, power, and glory be to Almighty God. Hallelujah! Praise Ye The LORD. Amen.

4 Rejoice in the LORD always: and again I say, Rejoice. —Philippians 4:4 (KJV)

God commands we allow nothing in our lives above Himself, that includes all earthly things, our parents, our spouse, our children, our family, our jobs, our politics, our hobbies, and etcetera. God is first in our lives, above all things—that is His Glory.

7 Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. 8 Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. —Psalms 24:7-8 (KJV)
