Faith Alone A Reformation Invention?

Apparently not. There are claims that Luther and the Reformers created the idea of Sola Fide or Faith Alone. Below are links to Church father (some doctors of the church) homilies (commentaries) on the various works of the apostles (Acts, Romans, Ephesians and 2nd Corinthians). More will be added as time permits.

These are links to discussion threads here at CF.com. To avoid the usual 'internet cowboy' quoting out of context (which is always a challenge and in most cases a valid one) I provided the pertinent, within context homily text and also cited link to the actual translated Homily. You will not arrive at some Reformed or Catholic drive by apologetics site. The beauty of reading the long commentaries of the Church fathers shows how much they revered the writings of the apostles as Sacred Scriptures. They also applied a great knowledge of exegesis while handling the texts. Reading Chrysostom is very much like reading John Gill and Matthew Henry. Godly men who love our Lord and Love His written Word.

This one post summarizes the to date quotes (within context) of the church fathers on Faith alone:
