Experiencing the riches of the word makes us rule over our world! However, we access these riches of the word by spiritual understanding and spiritual understanding comes by the spiritual revelation which only the Spirit of God can impart. There are different methods to studying the word of God, however reading and studying the word will not bring revelation and understanding without the revelatory work of the Holy Spirit. This is why in this installment I will dwell on how we engage the Spirit of God for revelations!
There is a spiritual phenomenon in the old testament days that still has much relevance today and we found this in Ezekiel 1:2, "In the fifth day of the month, which was the fifth year of king Jehoiachin's captivity, The word of the Lord came expressly unto Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of the Lord was there upon him". Here in this place, Ezekiel without much ado, after been touched by the hand of God receive the word of God expressly! And this became the pattern for Ezekiel's ministry, the word of the Lord coming expressly to the prophets.
In Ezekiel 3:16 we read again, "And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of the Lord came unto me, saying". Today God is still sending his words to those who have developed the spiritual frequency on which they are sent. Psalm 107:20 tells us that 'He SENT his WORD...'. Also in Isaiah 55:10-11 we are told, "For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it". All these scriptures confirm that God is still sending his word on spiritual frequencies to those who are tuned in the Spirit to receive!
How does this work? Most of the spiritual revelation I have received in my life and ministry have always been " sent". It has always been like the Ezekiel experience, the word of the lord coming 'expressly' to me. Yes, there are times you seat and study the word and pour over your notes and concordance and the topical bible and all other bible study tools. These are great things to do and are rewarding, however, some of the most powerful revelations of the word have come to me in the bathroom, on the road, and during moments of prayers. By inspiration, the Spirit of God always floods my heart with the revelation of the word! Could this be what Elihu meant in Job 32:8, "But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding". Through spiritual inspiration, we receive spiritual illumination and understanding!
Inspiration is the spiritual channel through which the spirit of God floods our heart with a spiritual understanding of God and his word!
