Experiencing The Word: How I Love Thy Word

Love will remain the most powerful emotion that God has given to man, and yet it is more than an emotion, it is the motive, the motivating factor for everything good that God has made available to man.

John 3:16 tells us, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life’

What made God's best available for humanity was his love for us!

Every good thing in the world has been facilitated by the force of love! It is the most intense expression of human hearts that are bound in affection!

God's best was made available to us on the platform of love, but also we access what God has made available also by his love in our hearts. Paul revealed in 1 Corinthians 2:9&10 that the best of God is made available to those who love him!

1 Corinthians 2:9-10, ‘But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God’

We cannot experience the best of God until we experience the love of God, for the love of God is what makes available the best of God! And the best of God made available to man is his Son, his word!

John 1:1-3 tells us that his Son is the word, ‘In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, andthe Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men’

And then verse 14 tells us what happened to the word, ‘and the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth’

The best of God made available to man is his word and the way to experience his word is through LOVE! Like the Psalmists in Psalm 119, we must love the word in order to experience the word! How best do you describe the content of the book of Psalm 119, it is the narration of hearts that has unparalleled affection for the revelation of the word! Psalm 119 is the book of love, a valentine love notes of how a man loves God and his word! How many of us love God and his word that much?

See what the Psalmists wrote of God and his word in Psalm 119.

Vs 10 With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments

Vs 14 - I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches

Vs 40 - Behold, I have longed after thy precepts: quicken me in thy righteousness

Vs 47-48 - And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved. 48 My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in thy statutes.

Vs97 - O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.

These were the words of the Psalmist as he expresses deep affection for the word of God, it was so much that he confess in vs 97 that the word became his meditation all day. And the effects of this all day all night meditation we begin to see in the verses that follow

Vs 98-100 says, ‘Thou through thy commandments hastmade me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me. 99 I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation. 100 I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts.

The love for the word provokes all-day meditation which gave births to wisdom and understanding that made the psalmist wiser than those that have gone ahead of him. Wisdom, supernatural wisdom, as we know is the platform for outstanding and unusual success. And we come into fellowship with this higher level of wisdom when we experience the word and to experience this word we must love the word!

This must be our pursuit, like the Psalmist we must love the Lord, we must love his word, it must be our delight and meditation. There is love in the air they say, it is Valentine right? Let our love be set on things that are higher, let our love be set on the lord and his word, now there is no greater love to pursue than that, for when we pursue the love of the word we will begin to experience the word, and when we experience the word we will begin to subdue our world. Amen!
