Well, I'm feeling better today than I was yesterday. I just needed to rant a bit. I aware that I don't always say things as perfectly as I'd like to but I'm working on it. When I said that to someone who jumped all over me for saying somthing in a way that made him think something else, he told me that "out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks" so therfore it was just showing how bad my heart was
Actually, I did'nt feel that I'd said anything wrongly but I did not want to argue.
I'm rather curious as to how someone proving that Yeshua abolished the law uses the exact same scripture that I use to prove he didn't. I'd laugh, but it really isn't funny. Lets look at Matt 5:17
Tree of Life Version:
17 “Do not think that I came to abolish the Torah or the Prophets! I did not come to abolish, but to fulfill. 18 Amen, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or serif shall ever pass away from the Torah until all things come to pass. 19 Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches others the same, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever keeps and teaches them, this one shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness exceeds that of the Pharisees and Torah scholars, you shall never enter the kingdom of heaven!
So there it is "Do NOT think that I came to abolish the law" then a little further, he says it again "I did not come to abolish". What Yeshua does say he came to do is right there as well, "I came to fulfill". Now the word fulfill does not mean end. If it did, hw would be saying, "I did not come to abolish it but I came to abolish it???? In the dictionary the word fulfill means to "obey or to follow"
Here is the verse from the Blue Letter Bible:
Think G3543 not G3361 that G3754 I am come G2064 to destroy G2647 the law, G3551 or G2228 the prophets: G4396 I am G2064 G3756 come G2064 to destroy, G2647 but G235 to fulfil. G4137. Click on the number to the right of the word "fulfil" number G4137 and it will take you to the Greek Translation page where you can see the list of meanings for the word fulfil in the Greek.
Looking at the continuing verses. Verse 18 Yeshua says,"I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or serifa shall ever pass away from the Torah until all things come to pass". Since we are all still alive and well on planet earth, Torah has not passed away.
Then futher on in chapter 24:35 Yeshua says it AGAIN! "35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away." I think we need to believe him. And those who are teaching that he did, need to stop it. Yeshua said there is a pretty stiff penalty for teaching others that his laws are abolished, for they will be considered the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. I notice in that scripture they are still in heaven, so keeping the law has nothing to do with salvation but they are considered the least.
I'm sure there is more to come on this subject
There's more to the story. I know it sounds like I'm saying that we have to start doing all the rituals and stuff from the OT and I'm NOT saying nor do I believe that at all. David said "thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path" His word is not a burden it's a guide, and let's face it we all need a guide to show us how to live.
Lets just start with the two commandments that Yeshua and Paul referred to: 1. Love God with all your heart, your strength, and your mind and and soul, and 2, Love your neighbor as yourself. Those two pretty much cover them all.
More later, this is getting too long.
