Define "iniquity".

"Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work INIQUITY." (Matthew 7:22-23 KJV)

I'm sure we have memory of this scripture imagining the heart rending rejection from Christ. #Sting #Burn! (Literally >.>).
First of all, this is Obviously directed to Christians... Even anointed Christians, who through the name of Jesus have done many miraculous things.

The only grounds of his rejection is 'iniquity', which for a long time I summed up to mean "evil doing", " wickedness " and other fairly loose and relative terms in English.

But God has given us in modern times all the resources for the refinement of biblical knowledge and understanding (Hallelu Yah). Here's a little word study from the Blue Letter Bible app, one such powerful resource (And it's free)

Strongs G458, the Greek word "anomia" is used 15 times in the Bible.
12/15 times it has been translated to the word "iniquity", once translated to " unrighteousness ", once to "transgress the law", and finally once again to "transgression of the law".

(Guys, this is the New Testament... So why do we say the law is done away with when everyone is making mention of anomia?)

Here's the definition according to biblical use:
1. the condition of [someone] without law
a. because ignorant of it
b. because of violating it

(Wow... Ignorance... Remember Hosea 4:6?)

2. contempt and violation of law, iniquity, wickedness

Synonyms:
Illegality, Wickedness, Unrighteousness

Jesus speaks a lot more about iniquity, this is what he says:

Matthew 13:41
The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do "iniquity".

(Guys this is certainly a big deal.)

Matthew 23:28
Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and "iniquity"

Matthew 24:12
And because "iniquity" shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

(This one's actually speaking about our times. I think its fair to say this has been fulfilled... The mainstream church finds no value in the law, so who will offer guidance to the heathens if we dont? Instead of bringing God from the Church to the Masses, we have adopted popular culture in the Church, creating many PseudoChurches)

This Greek word is also used in other books of New Testament, ESPECIALLY by Paul who many use as their justification for Lawlessness (... You guessed it... Another word for iniquity).

Romans 6:19
I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to "iniquity" unto "iniquity"; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.

1 John 3:4
Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the "transgression of the law"

See other scriptures:
2 Corinthians 6:14
2 Thessalonians 2:7
Titus 2:14
Hebrews 1:9
Hebrews 8:12
Hebrews 10:17
Romans 4:7

We could take this a step further by researching the Hebrew equivalent and its use in OT. I imagine Yah himself had a LOT to say about this.

Now, since we know that the practice of iniquity will we paid with death, check out Revelation 14:12 for what we must to to inherit Life through Christ Jesus #Victory!
