TODAY’S TEXT: “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost comes upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth". Acts 1:8 KJV
We saw from yesterday that our spirit man is essential to our make up. This we capture on Day 1 with these words which are recaptured below
"God-breathed into man His Spirit, and man became a living soul. At the impartation of God's Spirit, man became energized, living, functional and powerful! And somehow everything man as created as a machine has followed the same formulae, there is the physical component and there is the power source! Almost every machine, devise, technology created works on this model: there is a power source that makes things work and functional. For us as God's creation, our Spirit is the essence of our being and our power source for functional and successful living"
This power source, however, is activated by the outpouring of God's Spirit on us. The scripture for today tells us that through the baptism of the Spirit of God we receive power for effective, functional and successful living as believers! Jesus walked and worked with the same spiritual pattern while on the earth, in Luke 4:14 the Bible records that he 'returned in the power of the Spirit and his fame went abroad'. In the next thirty days, we will return in the power of the Spirit and the effect will be seen all around us.
When the disciples got empowered in Acts 2, there was a change of level and a change of story for them: they became men who turned the world upside down(Acts 17:6). These were men who prior to the baptism of the Holy Spirit were cowards, they were weak. People often talked about how Peter betrayed Jesus. How did that happen? Peter was the only one following Jesus as he was taking from one place to another during his trial. The other disciples were nowhere to be seen, they all fled, all out of sight that they were not even in a position to be questioned about their allegiance to the Lord! That all changed in Acts 2, the power came and they begin to turn their world upside down! This power came through the activation of our spirit by the impartation of the Spirit of God!
From Acts 2 all the apostles did was to swim deeper in the waters of God's Spirit and the deeper walk they had with God the greater works they experienced on the earth. Ezekiel 47 gives a prophetic insight into the effects of a deeper walk with God. This is typified by the prophet swimming deeper into waters and as he swam deeper in the water he grew in power and stature. The deeper waters brought healing to all trees and the nation. Whatsoever comes in contact with this water receives the life of God! Read Ezekiel 47:1-9
