Crossing the Tiber

It's a euphemism for converting to Catholicism. And that's where I am right now.

01.01.2014 marks the beginning of My Catholic Year. The idea is to live as one of them. So for all of 2014 I plan to:

* Fully submit to their authority
* Join their RCIA
* Pray their prayers
* Attend their Mass
* Study their Missal
* Learn their liturgies (Latin, Novus Ordo and whatever else is available in my area)
* Read and understand their catechism
* Converse with their priests
* Partake of their sacraments (those I'm eligible for anyway)

There are a lot of reasons for doing this, all of which can be found at my blog at this link. The bottom line though is the conviction I feel not only that Anglicanism has no future (at least in the US) but that the Catholics legitimately are right. Frankly I think they've done a very poor job of communicating the true understanding of their beliefs and doctrines. Ignorant Protestants with an axe to grind have done most of the talking but when a real Catholic teacher, priest or whatever else explains their doctrines, you can't fault their logic.

So as much regard as I may have for Anglicanism at large, ACNA in general and my local parish and priest in particular, ultimately joining up with Rome seems like the right thing to do.

You can follow my blog at this link, where I intend to post little updates and stuff regarding My Catholic Year.
