The news has been making a round of an American pastor who died recently from covid-19. The news has it that the pastor in the last service proclaimed the superiority of God's power over the virulent virus so much to the point he sounded like the Hebrew boys who were ready to lay their lives on the line. He did pass on and I honor his faith because he stood by his convictions. Someone says but that was stupid? Yes, all of the faith actions to a certain extent, in fact, most times do not agree with conventional wisdom. Sometimes to walk in faith, you must learn to stand alone.
There was the story of another pastor that probably didn't trend as much. He was bedridden and isolated because of covid-19. During his ordeal, God used a missionary who had served in Nigeria for over 10 years to pray for him! And barely a few days after he was healed and discharged! Praise God! Both of these men may not have had the same result, however both, to the extent we know demonstrated and repose their faith in God!
We have been taught that testimonies prove that the word works! To a certain extent this is true but not the truth. Testimonies do not prove the word works, testimonies only prove that we are working with the word. Testimonies do not validate the veracity, integrity, and authority of the word! No! Testimonies validate and prove the strength of our faith in the word! Why is this so? The word of God is self-proved: it has been tested and adjudged settle forever! It's why Jesus said, "Heaven and earth may pass away but a jot of my word will not go unfulfilled". Hallelujah!
The Bible says in Psalm 18:30, "As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him."
God's word is tried, in other words, God's word has been tried, tested and self-proved. This is why further in Psalm 119:89 the Psalmist wrote:
"Forever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven"
The word settled means it is fixed, stationary, unchanging, remains the same forever! The word does not need to be proved, the word has been proved! Therefore our experiences and testimonies or lack of, does not validate or invalidate the integrity, the veracity and the authority of the word! In other words, my faith or lack of faith doesn't give credibility to or take credibility from the word! The word works whether we work it or not!
The standard guide for our faith remains what the word says and not what the experiences of men reveal! Our experience of the word is relative to our interpretation of and faith in the word. They reveal more about the level of our faith and not so much about the power of God! For whether we believe or not, the world works, and the power of God never fails!
It is based on this premise of the word that I could title this blog post as a cure for covid 19. Yes for us people of the word we are not looking for a cure for any disease under heaven, we already have that and all is revealed in the word of God. For the people of the world, we pray for a cure that they can relate to, but for us in this kingdom, we are not praying for a cure, we already have the cure! God's word is the cure for every ailment in the world!
This blog post really is just a reminder of what we already know but which we have forgotten. The church in the greatest hour of the world need turned its back on its greatest source of strength, THE WORD! The scare of the coronavirus brought a 'coronasation' of every revelation we have always held on to! This past few weeks I have read different interpretations of Mark 16:17-20, the issue of laying on of hands and the rest. These past few weeks I have seen self-confessed believers casting aspersion on social media posts that sings and extols the power of God and diminishes the power of covid 19! Questioning our beliefs in the power of the word reveals nothing but our lack of depth and faith in the word.
No matter what disease arise in the world or what pandemic occurs, and may I say, there are greater more severe pandemics in the future! Anyway whatever happens now or later will not change what is written in Proverbs 4:20-22
"My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh"
When we focus on the word the life of the word takes over our life! Hallelujah! And this is what we must do at this time, focus on the word. We don't need any cure from the world, we already have a cure in the word. The word impacts us with the life of God!
Let me quickly identify the three impacts of the word that is coming to my heart now and which you all know.
1. The word impacts supernatural life and health. We first read Proverbs 4:20-22 and then we also have John 6:63, the famous words of Jesus
"It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life"
God's word becomes a health and supernatural life to our body.
