Covid(13) Christ Over Virus Infections And Disease - Stay Watchful, Stay Prayerful

One of the greatest misconceptions we have as believers is to think that God's will is express in its fulfillment. Nothing can be farther from the truth. To put it shockingly to you, God's will not always be done on the earth! And this is the focus of our discussion today as we go through one of the most difficult times in the history of mankind.

Like you, like most believers, I have this spiritual statement that I always make, "His will be done". The meaning of these words is much deeper than the words convey! In intent what this statement is really saying is, 'no matter what happens Gods will be done'. And this kind of attitude has helped produced nothing but spiritual laziness on the part of believers! We have this notion that irrespective of our spiritual disposition that what God wants to be done will always be done. However, this stand and notion do not agree with scriptures. And in the days we are in when everyone with a social media handle is a preacher of the sort it is good to check what people say through the integrity of the word of God! Anything not validated by the words of God is the opinion of the sons of men!

Many people claim ownership of the truth today, but there is only one truth in the world, that is the word. All else are facts, fabrications, statistics, opinions, ideas, reflections and information of men, none of these things can stand up to the truth of God's word! John 17:17 tells us, " Sanctify them by thy truth, thy WORD is truth".

There was someone's opinion on one of the social media handle where someone postulated that in times like this that God is thinking humanity! That at a time of global crisis like this God prioritizes humanity over his children. On this surface, this looks good and makes sense. God won't want everyone to die, yes that is the logical thinking! But the word of God will have none of this! Scripturally the time of crisis on the earth is the time Christ shows forth himself on behalf of his own. There are so many scriptures to this effect. Isaiah 60:1-3 tells us that when darkness covers the earth and gross darkness 'the people'. That is the word God uses, 'the people' because anyone who hasn't called him father is not 'his people'. God is the creator of all but not the father of all! So the scripture says in the darkest hour GOD WILL ARISE OVER HIS PEOPLE NOT THE PEOPLE! Celebrate this truth, let it rule your mind, in the hour of temptation and gross darkness you are GOD'S PRIORITY!

Revelation 3:10 also tells us that God will hide us when the world is been tried!

The time of trial and temptation upon the world is a time of triumph and distinction for God's people! Malachi has some words for us in this respect:

"Then they that feared the Lord spake often one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name. And they shall be mine, saith the Lord of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him. Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not" Malachi 3:16‭-‬18 KJV

God says he will make a distinction between those that serve him and those that didn't. He has never minced his words about distinguishing the ELECT. This time God will mark you apart from the evil in the world. There is no humanism in the Bible, God is an exclusive God he watches out for his own. It is our own responsibility to show the love of God to the rest of the world, but God's natural disposition is to show his love primarily to his CHILDREN. He has made his love available to the world by giving his only begotten son. John 3:16 is a popular scripture but let's read this again

"For God so loved the WORLD, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life"

Jesus was God's gift of love to humanity! You can only access all other things that God has in store for you when you accept this precious gift. This is why in Romans 8:32 the Bible tells us, "He that spared not his own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?"

With Christ, we have access to all of God's best without him we are nothing to God, mere creation and not his children! "How shall he not with HIM also freely give us all things". Those who freely receive all gifts from the father are those who first receive the first gift from the father, and that is his son JESUS CHRIST!

It is good that we understand this even though that was a digression from the original thought where we started, God's will not always be done! But if you look at it from a deeper perspective my thoughts have not been literally off tangent. In a period like this God's will is for us to be distinguished, to mark out from others, that is his will for us at this crucial point in time, but that will is not automatic!

If you read in that Malachi 3:16-18 before God arose and said he will distinguish his own, first it was the believers who gathered in verse 16 in prayers, or meditation or scriptural deliberation, and they talked among themselves "didn't God says he will distinguish those who fear him, why are we then suffering the same fate as that of the world?". And then God heard them and moved into action! This is the spiritual engagement that brings all of God's promises to pass! Where there is spiritual passivity all of God's promises to us pass us by without looking back!

On the altar of spiritual passivity, all of God's promises remain inactivated and the people of God remain in captivity.

How is God's will done on the earth? Jesus gave us an answer in the book of Matthew!

"After this manner, therefore, pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven" Matthew 6:9‭-‬10 KJV

If God's will must be done on earth then the Saints must do their part on the earth by praying!

Another scripture in Matthew.

"And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock, I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven"
Matthew 16:18‭-‬19 KJV

Put this scripture in another way it means whatever we permit on earth shall be permitted and vice versa. But someone is complaining here that these were the words of Jesus to Peter! But hey before this verse from the first day that God created man he gave that dominion to us in Genesis 1:26! Another scripture in Psalms 115:16 tells us,

"The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord's: but the earth hath he given to the children of men"

God has given us the earth, so whatever happens on earth is as we give spiritual permission and license to. God's will can only be enforced in our lives through the exercise of our spiritual authority in the place of prayer!

There is nothing that God will's for us that will not be contested by the devil. It was God's will that Jesus should die on the cross of Calvary for the sin of humanity! Jesus was a willing sacrifice too, but somewhere either by the antagonism of the flesh or of the devil, he was not willing to go on!

"And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground" Luke 22:41‭-‬44 KJV

He prayed and his sweat was like the gushing of blood, on his knees, Jesus was travailing for the will of God to be done! Though it was the will of God yet the will of God will not always be done without the spiritual cooperation of man and so the master prayed. If he prayed for God's will to be done then we need it much more!

Jeremiah the prophet wrote in some of his prophecies how Israel will be in captivity for 70 years and then will be released. Daniel understood this prophetic agenda from scriptures but he didn't just fold his hands and said, "God's will will always be done". No! Daniel set a prayer posture and begin to intercede, calling for the fulfillment of God's word! And exactly when it was seventy years God set his people free!

"Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying, Who is there among you of all his people? his God be with him, and let him go up to Jerusalem, which is in Judah, and build the house of the Lord God of Israel, (he is the God,) which is in Jerusalem". Ezra 1:1‭, ‬3 KJV

Daniel practically followed Paul's injunction to Timothy in 1 Timothy 1:18,

"This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare" 1 Timothy 1:18 KJV.

The warfare of the Spirit is what gives express permission for God's will to be done on the earth, absent of this spiritual responsibility, all of God's promises remain just what they are, promises!
