There are two forces within Christianity. First are those who set the example by the life they lead and show by attitude and their fruits that they have repented and love neighbour as self. They follow the will of God rather than the self serving will of man.
Second are those who derive their identities by pointing out the evils of others in mocking, attacking, thus not loving neighbour as self. That perhaps is out of fear of being called out for doing no or few good works, contrasting the words and commandments of Jesus, where the only alternative left to them then is to discredit others to draw attention away from the fact. It becomes 'politicized', not for the benefit of mutual betterment for all, but to create division and strife thus resembling the other institutions of man. This is quite common among those following a created gospel more fitted to the ways of man than of the Kingdom.
Love of the ways of the world keeps many from that Kingdom and following a religion where those two types of persons cohabitate, is no more a guarantee of following the right path than being outside of it. Buyer beware. There are two worlds at play within.
Matthew 13: 22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
