Confidence In God

"For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control." (2 Timothy 1:7 AMPC)

"but He has given us a spirit … of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control"
A person can only be genuinely cool, calm and collected by the help of the Holy Spirit. Every other confidence is vain and at best a parade of showmanship.
Discipline and self-control are fruits of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:23). They are two of the outflowing effects of the Spirit of God in us. How well we are able to control and discipline ourselves depend on the degree to which we surrender to the Holy Spirit. Elijah was a man of unusual boldnesss because he was constantly in God's presence. He trusted God for everything in his ministry.

ACTION PLAN: Who or what is our source of confidence? Total reliance on God will bring us to a place of calmness and unusual boldness.

PRAYER: Whatsoever has been my confidence before now, Lord crush them. Grant me grace to totally depend on You.
