Complainer Or Praiser

Are you a complainer or a praiser? If you are like most Christians, you are a little bit of both.
Imagine if God and man rated you as either one are the other. Which one would you be. Have you ever been around one that is always complaining, always negative? Not fun. Some people may be drawn to those kind of people, but I would dare say that most would rather avoid them. Some have advised "If you want to be positive, if you want to be successful, surround yourself with positive people." We become like those we spend a lot of time with. We need to be careful what we read. If we spend a lot of time reading negativity, not only might it depress or bring us down, it might also cause us to be negative as well. As a Christian, what would God want me to be, a complainer or a praiser. "And when the people complained, it displeased the Lord.", Numbers 11:1. "Do all things without murmurings (complainings) and disputings.", Philippians 2:14. The first and last verses of Psalms 146-150 all begin (first verses) with and end with (last verses) "Praise ye the LORD." David said in Psalm 34:1 "I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth." and David had his fare share of hardships. If I am to be a representative of God, a Christian, what would be my purpose in writing a lot of negative things? Would that speak well of what God is doing in my life? No. I don't believe in candy-coating reality, or denying that there is anything wrong in the world, of being a Christian that seems to have a coat-hanger in their mouth, forcing them to smile when their heart is not in it and trouble is all around. But if I am down, I don't always have to share it with the world. I can follow David's example in 1 Samuel 30:6. "And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him,... But David encouraged himself in the LORD his God." So many Psalms start out in negativity, then the Psalmist turns his attention to the Lord, and begins to praise Him, uplifting his own heart in joy. Let us work on having had a life that can put us among the Praisers when it is remembered by others, and especially by God.
