Church Under Siege

There is no doubt the church is under siege from all quarters and the responses by it make one wonder who and what is the church as so many are giving into a godless agenda and embracing sin like as never before to the point that what was deemed sin no longer is.

The purity of life and teaching of the past in the days of such men as Wesley, Finney, Edwards, Howells, Tozer, Spurgeon, Miller, Ravenhill and many more is no longer welcomed in the church.

The priority seems to be entertainment to attract the shallow to boost numbers and money to pay for expensive buildings.

This has allowed Satan to creep in unawares and foist on us a mantra that all that matters is love so everyone is welcome along with their sin which needs no correction and the cleansing power of the blood of Jesus.

In this particular blog, I will deal with a specific sin, that of homosexuality to illustrate my point. Those outside of the church promoting this particular sin and many inside the church, are adamant that homosexuality is not sin as homosexuals attribute their homosexuality to God.

Therefore we are told by sections of the church it is OK to have a homosexual living with another homosexual as the leader of the church. There is even the so-called Metropolitan Community Church where you cannot be in leadership unless you are a homosexual or lesbian.

I went to one of their meetings and it was as dead as a dodo. Not a spark of spiritual life in it. Afterwards, during tea and chat time one of the congregation tried to pick me up for a sexual encounter.

Whole denominations have embraced the homosexual agenda which has brought the rejection of God down on them as members are leaving in droves to be part of a church that does not compromise the gospel and make a mockery of the death of Christ on the cross.

So, where do we go from here? As far as I can see we have only one course and it is this.

First, we have to confess that as a church, we have watered down the gospel. Easy believeism and sign here.
Second, we have to set up barriers to prevent anything of Satan infiltrating the life of the church. That means calling sin sin and not entertaining it in any shape or form.
Third, We need to get back to preaching about sin.
Fourth, we need to expose sin for what it is.
Fifth, We need to make holiness a priority starting with times of corporate prayer to ask for God's forgiveness and cleansing of anything distasteful to him.
Sixth, taking up our cross to follow him and not being willing to compromise anything that he demands of us.
Seventh, we need to start listening to what he is saying and doing it whatever the cost which means that man's ideas are put in the rubbish bin.
