Christmas: A Celebration Of God's Love

Jesus is the reason for this season, Christ is at the center of "Christ-mas", but the tragedy of this season is that we ignore the celebrant and focus on the celebration! This is the Lord's birthday, the purpose of this celebration is CHRIST. Imagine a birthday where people walk into the birthday venue and ignore the BIRTHDAY boy or gal and just went straight for the food and drinks and all that accompany the day without saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the celebrant?

This is what happens this season when all our thoughts are on the celebrations, the drinking, the partying, the shopping and all great things we do this season that ends with 'ing', and not on the reason for the season: JESUS! And this is where Christmas ought to be reinvented in our heart, it is a season of celebration of God's love which brought salvation to humanity and reconciliation between God and man!

The angel Gabriel announced to the world the purpose for this season in Matthew 1:20-21, _But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins_

This was the reason the savior was born: for the salvation of humanity, and this is the reason we celebrate Christmas! The angel announced to the world, "glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men" (Luke 2:14). During this season humanity receives a new lease of life!

Christmas dress, food, drinks, shopping, and all that we do during this yuletide season all have their place, but most importantly the highest place and priority must be given to the one who is at the center of it all: JESUS CHRIST! The best Christmas is the one celebrated by developing intimacy with the celebrant - JESUS CHRIST!

This is why this season we must come to understand the depth of God's love that was poured out for us. CHRISTMAS IS A CELEBRATION OF GOD'S LOVE! The Christmas story and journey all started in John 3:16, 'For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life"! This was what birth the most important time in human history: GOD'S LOVE! Without God's love, there would have been no Christmas, God's love was what brought forth God's son and God's son was the one who saved humanity, without his LOVE we would have been lost. This is why Paul prayed for the Ephesians church that they would understand the depth of this unusual love.

"For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God"(Ephesians 3:14-20)

*When we understand the depth of his love we will be filled with the fullness of God*

May this Christmas fills you with the fullness of Christ! For the fullness of divinity in humanity makes you escape the corruption that is in the world! The corruption of sin, sickness, disease, poverty, curses, and failure all losses their power over your life for the fullness of divinity in man gives him immunity over every corruptive force in the world!

2 Peter 1:3-4 is instructive in this respect. According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust
