Where there is self will/interest, there is a human seeking a way around the ideals presented by Jesus by way of the Gospel of the Kingdom.
Ephesians 6:
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
These verses are so often used by many who seek to justify an aggressive or hostile spirit, usually their own. Yet a similar passage states...
1 Thessalonians 5:
8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
The second passage clearly states the intention of the first... that they both speak of not aggression but of a passive loving spirit. Yet mankind continues to defend itself rather than repent and change to the ideals of the Kingdom, many saying Lord Lord at the same time.
