But seriously....
I made it through to the end of my day at school today and i was working on the computer and just started feeling down. I have actually been pretty happy lately, not that I don't have any reasons to stress. But suddenly, I felt anxious and began to worry. At first I couldn't put my finger on what I was feeling or why. I just knew I felt down. I started thinking negatively. "You think they like you? Awe (said mockingly) just wait. Wait until they find out who you really are. Wait until they know you..."
I thought, "Wait...Where is this coming from?"
The enemy.
John 10:10 " the thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy."
The thief, or enemy, is Satan and if we are not careful he will swoop in and steal our joy. He will fill our heads with negative thinking and before we know it were moping around upset and discouraged.
Its easy for this to happen. Were in a good mood so our guard is down and suddenly we're being talked to a whole bunch of lies. "You're not good enough. Look at you! Who would hire you? Yeah it all feels good now but wait until they learn what a loser you really are. It'll be over soon."
Lies. The devil is a liar. I know my value in Christ and I hope all of you out there reading know your value too. I hope you know how precious and unique you are. That you are more than a conqueror and that no matter what you're going through you can overcome because nothing is impossible for God and you can do All things through Christ who strengthens you. (Alright, some scripture references were made there but the only one I know off the top of my head is Philippians 4:13. Don't beat me up okay because let's face it it's not the Christian thing to do. Lol) ( feel free to leave the verses in a comment. Help me to help you. Lol)
Moving on...
The devil, the enemy, the "thief" comes to what? "Steal, kill, and destroy." He comes to steal your joy, to kill your faith, and destroy your thinking. How do we combat this?
Lets look at other half of that verse.
" I have come that they may have life and have it to the full." Some versions say, " to have it in abundance". Not says, " my purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life."
"I have come..." He has come! For us! So that we might have life! But not just have life, have a rich and satisfying life. Have it in abundance. Can we get excited about that? I think we can! Come on and give Him praise.
Hop with me to Deuteronomy 30:19-20
" this day I call Heaven and Earth as Witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now CHOOSE Life, so that you and your children name is and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice and hold fast to Him."
Look at that word. CHOOSE. We have a choice. The enemy comes to kill. To destory. Satan wants nothing more than to tear us down.
" I have come that they may have life and have it to the full."
We don't have to try to earn it. Its right there. Its the purpose He came for. To give us life. And all we have to do is Choose life!
It sounds so easy doesn't it? Just choose life. Just choose to believe. Thumb the pages of your Bible. Its all right there. Everything you need to get through any situation, to fight off any attack from the devil. You just have to choose to meditate on it. Choose to remind yourself of everything God's word says about you when that voice comes breathing in your earcspeaking lies. Choose life.
Everyday and with everything that we face we have a choice to make. We can let the devil get us discouraged, defeated, let Him fill us with lies. Or-we can choose to focus on the word of God. Its not easy and its not a one time decision. There are two forces at work here. The devil is going to keep coming as long as he thinks he has a chance. But we don't have to sit there and take his crap. We can choose to keep our minds set on God. Don't listen to the lies. Don't believe the in the word of the enemy. Believe in God's word. " now choose life so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God listen to his voice and hold fast to Him."
Through the last stretch of this post, the enemy has come at me saying "come on, you don't know what you're doing. Everyone reading this is smarter than you. You think you're telling somebody something."
But I kept writing because God tells me I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I am fully equipped by Him. And I'm not giving up. I know it will be challenging and I will be judged. I may even be hated but God has given me an assignment and I'm excited about it. Im honored by Him. Im in love with Him. I will not stop. I will not let the enemy destroy me. I will put on the armor of God and I will fight. I will choose life.
