What's The Applicable Gospel By Which We Are Saved For The Church Today?

  1. Blog Description

What's the applicable gospel/good news by which we are saved for today's Church/Body of Christ?

Repent & be baptised ISN'T the applicable gospel/good news by which we are saved, for today's Church/Body of Christ.

John the Baptist repeated stated purpose: PREPARE the way of the Lord (Isa 40:1-11, Ps 85:9-14, Mal 3:1, Matt 11:10, Mk 1:2

How do the promoters of sin remission via Johns water baptism invariably miss the next 3 verses:

Acts 19:4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
(NOTE: John is sent to preach the baptism of repentance. To PREPARE the people to believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.)

Heb 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
(NOTE: Without Christ's shed blood there is NO Remission/Pardon/Forgiveness for sins.)

Mat 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
(NOTE: It's Belief/faith in Christ's sinless shed blood & resurrection that provides the Remission/Pardon for sins. NOT the act of repentance or water baptism)

Repentance: Strong's Hebrew (H7725:שׁוּב ) turn back, return, a wholehearted turning to God. Note the different way repent translates in Hebrew vs Greek, John wasn't speaking Greek. When John was preaching, turn back/return to God. Is a message only applicable to Jews at that time. Gentiles didn't have any relationship with God, see Eph 2:12)

OT Jewish repentance rituals: rending of garments, wearing sackcloth, sitting in ashes, putting ashes on top of his head, fasting, weeping, wailing. Every Jew at John's baptism was familiar with repentance/turning back to God rituals. (See Joel 2:12-13).

Jn 3:25 there arose a question between some of John's disciples & the Jews about purifying.
    (NOTE: Questions about PURIFYING arose)

Return/turn back to God, PURIFY/wash/clean yourself-up, outside & inside (Jews of Jesus day understood this practice) in PREPARATION of meeting your long time promised Messiah. Through whom will remiss/forgive/pardon your sins will be realized.

Levitical law required PREPATATION/PURIFYING instructions on many occasions: Ex 39:4; Ex 30:19-21; Ex 40:12; Lev 6:27; Lev 13:54, Lev 13:58; Lev 14:8-9; Levs 15:16; Lev 16:4, Lev 16:24; Lev 22:6.

Jacob receives ritual washing instructions in PREPATATION before meeting the Lord at the alter: Gen 35:1-2

The Lord gives Moses ritual washing instructions in PREPATATION before meeting the Lord on the morrow. Ex 19:9,10,14

Acts 13:24 When John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.
(NOTE: John the Baptist is sent to preach, the baptism of repentance to All the People of ISRAEL. To Prepare the way (PEOPLE) for the coming/meeting of the LORD. Through whom remission/pardon/forgiveness of sin would be realized)

Acts 2:38 is 100% Jewish doctrine (reread Acts 13:24 above) preached to ALL the PEOPLE of ISRAEL.

Acts 2:38 is another narrative repeatedly preached out of context & not applicable to the good news/gospel of Jesus Christ, by which we (today's/Body of Christ are saved.

Peter is on the Temple Mt during the 1st post resurrection Pentecost, a mandatory pilgrimage festival. Every male Jew of age was required to travel to the Temple Mt every Passover, Pentecost & Tabernacles

Peter's is speaking to Temple Mt full (millions?) of JEWS:

Acts 2: (5) and there were DWELLING at Jerusalem JEWS, 14 Peter, standing up with the eleven, said, YE MEN OF JUDAEA, (22) YE MEN OF ISRAEL, hear these words. (36) let ALL the HOUSE OF ISRAEL know, that God made that same Jesus, WHOM YE CRUCIFIED, both Lord and Christ.

Context: REPENT from UNBELIEF, (not everyday personal sins) REJECTING & killing their long promised Messiah/Christ.

There were NO gentiles baptized via the indwelling Holy Spirit on the Temple Mt on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2:

Acts 10:44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
(NOTE: Gentiles via hearing & believing the Word, without any repentance, water baptism, law keeping etc. Were baptized with Christ's eternally sealing/saving, indwelling Holy Spirit)

Acts 10:45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

(NOTE: Peter & the Jews with him were ASTONISHED, to see Gentiles receive the baptism with God's Holy Spirit. If any gentiles had been baptized at on the Temple Mt during (Acts 2 Peter was there) Pentecost. Why were these Jews ASTONISHED to witness the gentiles salvation?)

Peter shares his Acts 10 experience of Gentiles being baptized with the Holy Spirit:

    Acts 11:
15 And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.

16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.

(NOTE: Acts 2:4 Only Jews receive God's eternal salvation SEAL (2 Cor 1:22, 2 Tim 1:14, 2 Cor 5:5, Eph 4:30) of His indwelling Holy Spirit. Years later gentiles receive God's eternal salvation SEAL (2 Cor 1:22, 2 Tim 1:14, 2 Cor 5:5, Eph 4:30) of His indwelling Holy Spirit.)

Rom 1:16, 2:9 & 10: Salvation is 1st to the Jew then to the gentile

It's years after Pentecost the Lord sends Peter to Cornelius house. Where gentiles received salvations indwelling baptism with the Holy Spirit (Acts 10:44). As the Jews had received 7 years earlier during Pentecost. Prior to Peter's visit, Gentiles are without God, aliens/strangers from Israel's covenants of promise, having no hope (Eph 2:12).

KJV Dictionary Definition REMISSION: Forgiveness; pardon; that is, the giving up of the punishment due to a crime; as the remission of sins. Matt. 26. Heb. 9.

(NOTE: John's water baptism, or any water baptism, can forgive/pardon sins. It's faith placed in Christ's sin payment & resurrection where by Christ baptizes spiritually with His indwelling Holy Spirit. That we receive remission/forgiveness/pardon from our sins)

The gospel of Jesus Christ that's applicable for todays Body of Christ by which we are saved is:

Christ DIED for your sins (paying sins required wage) was BURIED (proof Jesus died) & was RESURRECTED from the grave (Fathers receipt, sins required payment received & accepted. See 1 Cor 15:1-4)

Salvation is accessed/seized thru Faith (Rom 5:1-2) placed in the faithful, obedient, finished sin redemptive work & resurrection of Jesus the Christ. (Eph 2:8, Acts 5:1-2, Rom 10:9-10, 1 Cor 15:1-4, Eph 1:13)

Water baptism doesn't provide remission/pardon/forgive sin, repentance doesn't remiss/pardon sin, obedience doesn't remiss/pardon sin, sabbath observance doesn't provide remission/pardon/forgive sin.

All the credit, praise, glory & honor belongs to Jesus. Amen

Jesus himself invoked 2 new covenant ordinances, water baptism & the Lord's Supper. Every believer should be lead after salvation/receiving the indwelling Holy Spirit to partake in both.
