Keys To The Kingdom Of Heaven

Matthew 16:15 Jesus said unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

19 Jesus say's; I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Peter is the first to openly confess who Christ was. Jesus promises him the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Jesus had also told Peter He'd make him a fisher of men (Matt 4:19).

Peter unlocks the Spiritual door to the Kingdom of heaven:

First to the Jew, Acts 2:4. Aprox 7 years later Acts 10:44 to the Gentiles.

Pentecost was one of 3 mandatory Jewish pilgrimage Feasts (Deut 16:16). Every male Jew had to travel to the Temple Mt yearly.

Acts 2:1 The Temple Mt is crowded, Peter is filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:4) 3000 souls are saved (Acts 2:41)

Here Peter, becomes a fisher of men. First opening the spiritual door to the Kingdom of Heaven. Peters sermon hauls in 3000 souls that day.

Acts 10, aprox 7 years after the 1st post resurrection Pentecost in Acts 2:4:

After a vision & some resistants the Lord sends Peter to witness to a gentile. A Roman Centurion named Cornelius.

While Peter is speaking the Holy Spirit falls on all the gentiles listening to Peter (Acts 10:44)

NOTE: As Peter spoke, these gentiles received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. They had not been circumcised, they had not kept no Mosaic laws, they had not brought a sacrifice to the Temple, they had not been water baptised nor had they repented of anything. As Peter spoke, they believed, thru faith & faith alone, there gentiles received God's spiritual seal (2 Cor 1:22, Eph 1:13, Eph 4:30) via/of the Holy Ghost.

The keys Jesus promised Peter (Matt 16:19) are used here again. Peter opened the door (spiritual) to the Kingdom of Heaven to the gentiles.
