Be Encouraged, This Is The Day The Lord Has Made

“This is the day that the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalm 118:24).

Each day is just one single brick in the foundation of our lives. In a life without Christ, one’s bricks are made from the clay of this world. These perishable bricks are held together with the temporary mortar each passing day holds until the final brick has been laid and life in this world ends. In the life of those who are true followers of Christ, we have a free-will choice of what type of bricks are formed in our lives each day. If we choose to live our lives for the Lord then the bricks on that day are made from the clay of heaven and are held together with eternal mortar that is more solid than rock. These type of bricks and mortar are what create the solid foundation offered by the Lord for us in this world. However, many believers lose focus and are distracted by this world. These carnal minded believers choose to remain focused on the things of this world. In doing so, they become spiritually hijacked by Satan and sadly serve no heavenly purpose. The bricks formed on these days provide no spiritual footing, but instead leave a weak foundation that does not hold up when the storms of life come.

The spirit of this world has one focus, to take down anybody who seeks to serve the kingdom of heaven. Satan is not concerned with those who are neutralized by this world. In fact, he feels a sense of victory each day he can keep a believer from putting the Lord first in their lives. Jesus warned us, “Look, an hour is coming and has already come when you will be scattered, each to his own home, and you will leave Me all alone. Yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me. I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace. In the world, you will have tribulation. But take courage; I have overcome the world!” (John 16:32-33). Maybe this message finds you on this day living for the kingdom of heaven. Maybe, as you pause to consider, you find that you are living for yourself or the world on this day. This is the daily struggle of the true believer. This is the daily struggle of the true believer. I know it is for me, and yet it is never too late for us to repent of this world and turn our focus on heaven. This is what the Father’s wish is, that we would keep our eyes fixed on Him for His glory and honor.

We must live every day for the Lord as if it is our last. Tomorrow is not promised and may never come; therefore, live today for the Lord! Once again, it is never too late in the day to turn our eyes toward heaven. Many so-called Christians dedicate a few hours each weekend to go to what they consider church and never live out a spirit-filled daily walk with Christ. Do not let this be you! We must humble ourselves in God’s sight, and you need to realize He is always watching us. Be encouraged, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, so that in due time He may exalt you. Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in your faith and in the knowledge that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering” (1 Peter 5:6-9).
