So on my last blog post I laid out some problems I had laid out some issues I had found in my new Christian life. This blog post will be an update on those.
Trouble one: Lack of desire for sharing the gospel.
No real change here.
Trouble two: Prayer
I have not been 100% successful in resisting the late night and early morning lure of my kindle and cell phone. But there has been definite improvements in this area. I am praying more consistently – both in quantity and quality. That being said, there is still a LOT of room for improvement.
Trouble 3: I haven't told anyone.
I promised I would tell one person a week. Week 1 – accomplished. Last night I told my bestie and roommate. It was in the middle of a long discussion on sin and salvation and the Bible, one in which I got to stress a point. You see, my friend was raised southern Baptist. She says she is a Christian, and she may be. But there is zero evidence in her life of it. So during the discussion I managed to point out John 14:23, which I had noted in my bible reading.
“Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.”
Point being, if you don’t at least make a REAL LEGITIMATE effort to keep God’s commandments, how can you say you love him?
Trouble 4: Church
I have found a church I am looking to try out, and am determined to go this Sunday. I will set my alarm and everything.
Trouble 5: Tithing
I have yet to really examine this issue. But there have been significant changes in my financial situation that I suspect will make it easier on me to resolve this once I get around to it.
Trouble 6: Sin
Still a work in progress.
In other news....
I have always loved writing. Ever since I was a little girl, I wrote stories. I have had my work published before. That being said, I wasn't writing what I should be. Since I have been reading the Bible I have had so many inspirations for christian-oriented plots.
I asked elsewhere on CF whether it was sacrilegious to write stories based on biblical characters. Overall most people felt it would not be. I am still uncomfortable with the idea though, so will hold off on that. For example, I was thinking about Judas. Why would he do what he did? At first I wanted to write a fiction story about him. But then I got to thinking - why not translate that into a modern day story?
So I am going to start writing christian fiction I am rather looking forward to it.
