  1. Comfort in Hope

Remember the word unto thy servant, upon which thou hast caused me to hope. This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me. By His Spirit, God comforts each believer with promises He has caused faith in. If ever despondency or lack of any kind should befall the believer, there is comfort in God's quickening life to sustain.
  2. When At a Crossroad...

I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye. The more a person realizes their inability of the flesh, the more this promise sustains them. So grateful today for the Holy Spirit's faithful instruction.
  3. Safe...

The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe. (Proverbs 29:25)This verse can take several applications, but the one speaking to me today is made more difficult in the situations of my present life. To stand for truth when it means I stand alone is the weakness the Lord will be strong in for me. And I praise Him...
  4. Because You Have Made the Lord Your Habitation

Psalm 91:9-10 9) Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; 10) There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. Such a balm of truth in light of our modern times that threaten with Ebola and other biological hazards. The crux of the thought in these verses is in making the LORD our personal habitation... to live, move, and have our being in HIM. All ways and thoughts that 'seem right' to human reasoning...
  5. Candle of the Lord

Proverbs 20:27 The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching all the inward parts... As the soft wick yields to the stronger force of fire, a candle is inflamed, giving light in the darkness that surrounded it. Over time, the candle changes as it is consumed. The person consumed by the fire of the Lord will be changed by it, providing warmth and light to those in darkness. As their life is spent- consumed- by and for the Lord, they will fulfill their purpose. Lord, kindle my...
  6. The Song In My Heart

I often wake to the silent sound of a song stirring in my spirit. This morning it is the little song I taught my sons when they were very young: 'Christ my Savior set me free from all my sin~ Free to do the things that count for Him, again, and again. I have been released, given love and joy, and peace. I am free to live for Him Who gives me life.' It has been said that the saved are saved from slavery... no longer held captive to the law of sin and death! May the body of Christ be...
  7. If someone looked at your Christianity...

... what core emphasis would they find? For so many years my 'core' has not been focused on the only love I've really known... Jesus. By His grace, I'm awakening to His love and responding with deep gratitude, trusting His light to lead me into greater light... that others may see HIM alone. A Warning not to Stray from the Gospel (Paul Washer) - YouTube
  8. The Greatest Enemy to Human Souls

'The greatest enemy to human souls—I think I am not wrong in saying this—is the self-righteous spirit which makes men look to themselves for salvation.' ~Charles Spurgeon And how subtle this enemy can be... adding the heart of true gospel as a 'tag on' to their own filthy works. Yes... human righteousness is as filthy rags. What an honor, that our Lord Jesus wraps the true believer in His righteousness. In the sacrificial system of the OT, the sinners sin offering was as good as...
  9. Kept by Love...

Finding strength and encouragement in the words of the late David Wilkerson: We do not keep ourselves from evil by our own power; we do not do battle with Satan in our own strength. The Lord of hosts must do the keeping. Hear what the Bible says: "He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters. He delivered me from my strong enemy...for they were too strong for me" (Psalms18:16-17)
  10. Jesus is...

I read this in another thread, and find such comforting truth: Jesus is our Substitute, restoring that which sin took away; Our Surety, paying all the debts we would contract; Our Shepherd, taking charge of our persons~ to nourish them, to preserve them, and to set them before His Father's face forever. His obedience is our righteousness. His blood is our ransom price. His death is our life. ~James Smith, 'Gleams of Grace'
  11. Our Foundation of Faith

Hebrews 10:19-25 19) Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, 20) by the new and living way that He opened for us through the curtain, that is, through His flesh, 21) and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22) let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23) Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without...
  12. All I Once Held Dear...

I have counted loss... for the surpassing greatness of knowing life in Christ Jesus. May we be found in Him, not having our own righteousness, but that which comes by faith in Jesus. As He became sin (Who knew no sin), so are we given the priceless gift of righteousness (who did not know it). All I once held dear - Robin Mark - YouTube
  13. Can't help myself...

This song was shared in another thread. It ministers to my spirit on all levels... and I can't help but share it here, trusting others will also be blessed by it's truth (so soothingly sung). The Lord's My Shepherd - Stuart Townend - YouTube
  14. We do not Consider

Philippians 3:3 (ESV) For we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh. (Italics mine) Paul goes on to recount his ability to boast in accomplishments of his flesh... and by all counts he did have reason. Yet, he forsakes all reliance on his works to know the surpassing greatness of the life Jesus brought him into. I imagine some saying Paul is referring only to his life under law. Yet, in vs 12 & 13 he says...
  15. In Honor of Life...

Every year about this time (Halloween), a grand celebration of death permeates society as we know it in America. I have chosen my words deliberately, and there is no innocent fun in this 'holiday'. Fear and death are chief enemies to all humankind... believers will treat it as such. Reading in Ephesians 2 this morning, and hiding in the truth of life Paul speaks of: Ephesians 2:4-9 (ESV) 4) But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us, 5) even when...
