Are You Truly Seeking To Do The Will Of The Father?

The Gospel of Jesus Christ tells us that the kingdom of heaven is already here: “When asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, “The kingdom of God will not come with observable signs. Nor will people say, ‘Look, here it is,’ or ‘There it is.’ For you see, the kingdom of God is in your midst” (Luke 17:20-21). This same Gospel: “That Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:3-4) is mankind’s only path to eternal salvation. This salvation comes through a life-changing event whereby spiritual rebirth transpires through the act of faith (total trust) and complete surrender whereby one becomes a new creation (born-again) and a citizen of heaven.

Once a person becomes born-again they are filled with the Holy Spirit (God), and all of their sins are forgiven through the sacrificial blood of Jesus. Furthermore, once someone gains a new spiritual life there will be evidence of this transformation by the fruit of the spirit, and as a born-again Christian, they will choose to forsake their life here on earth to serve the kingdom of heaven. In other words, the born-again Christian makes the eternal decision to surrender their own “will” forevermore and instead live their lives here on earth focused on doing the “will” of the Father, the Almighty God. Jesus said, “For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but to do the will of Him who sent Me” (John 6:38). One day while Jesus was speaking to the crowds someone came and told Him that His mother and brothers stood outside wanting to speak to Him. Jesus, knowing that there is a great difference between life on earth and the life of a true citizen of heaven, proclaimed, “Who is My mother, and who are My brothers?” Pointing to His disciples, He said, “Here are My mother and My brothers. For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother” (Matthew 12:46-50).

I pray that you have already become a citizen of heaven and are truly my brother or sister. There are many, to include some who are reading this, that are under a false assumption that they are a Christian simply because they prayed a simple prayer, go to a church, read the bible, and pray. This is not true as the unsaved in this world can do all of these things and many have and do! Jesus said, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’” (Matthew 7:21). Therefore, “By this we can be sure that we have come to know Him: if we keep His commandments. If anyone says, “I know Him,” but does not keep His commandments, he is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But if anyone keeps His word, the love of God has been truly perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him: Whoever claims to abide in Him must walk as Jesus walked” (1 John 2:6).

Today’s so-called Christian churches mislead multitudes just as they themselves are deceived by their own manmade traditions and doctrines that dictate what it means to be like Christ. However, Jesus taught us to live a simple life serving the kingdom and not some institution and defiantly not our own desires. We are to simply LOVE God and those in this world sharing with them the Gospel that offers hope and eternal salvation. “Jesus declared, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments” (Matthew 22:37-40). “Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:18-20). Amen!
