Regrettably, many wrongly believe that going to church or simply being a part of a church congregation satisfies this intimate need. However, no matter how large or small these gatherings are, they do not offer the intimate fellowship true believers need for spiritual growth. There is nothing wrong with attending these gatherings, especially if true believers understand that this is a place to further spread the gospel to many who are seeking the truth and a personal relationship with Christ. The local church system is ripe with a harvest of souls that remain separated from the Lord and His kingdom.
Consequently, true believers need more than the ceremonial practices found in the local church system. Spiritually, they need true intimate fellowship (koinonia) and prayer time with others who are in Christ's Church (His true Body). In fact, that is the meaning behind Hebrews 10:25 instructing that we should not neglect meeting together.
