Are You Climbing?

Are You Climbing.jpg

I think we’re all trying to get someplace. Your climb may be more difficult than mine, you may be more aggressive in your climb than me, or you may be more inclined to solicit help in your climb. Whatever the case may be, we’re all climbing.

“Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him.” Mark 11:23 (NASB)

Our faith in Jesus gives us the power to climb any mountain. The route we take is largely dependent on the depth of our faith and our willingness to seek the help of other believers. Truly, the strength of our faith can be measured in our ability to connect with other believers. Together we are far more capable than we are as individuals. Isolated and alone, we are vulnerable to the determined forces of the enemy.

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:12 (NASB)

Jesus wants all believers to be united as one to reflect the unity between the Father and the Son. When we are united, we are reflecting the compelling unity of God. When others see Christians working together in service to God, they are attracted to that image and seek to know God as well.

“I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.” John 17:20-21 (NASB)

The world is watching us climb. It’s important that we display our united effort and demonstrate the value in being a member of the body of Christ. Love is the fuel that energizes our connected power. As we each utilize our God given gifts in support of one another, we open up the enormous possibilities of our collective growth and maturity.

“We are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.” Ephesians 4:15-16 (NASB)
