America At The Crossroads, A Gop Perspective

America is at a crossroads and there are three paths that it can take from here. These include: (1) End time events where God’s providence takes over. (2) Success by the Democratic Party, (3) Judgment and the rebuilding of America. In this post I concentrate on number three. In doing so, I assume the Democrats have won both Senate seats in Georgia and that Biden will take the oath of office. Granted there are still ways that Trump could remain in office, but such a path is quite remote.

The Georgia Senate seats may seem insignificant but having the Congress and the Presidency means that whatever happens in the next two years, the democrats are going to own it. Of course, there are votes still to be counted, but at this time, the counties with the most uncounted votes are more heavily democrat so I am posting this to perhaps get in front of the issue at hand. If the GOP holds at least one Senate seat it does not change everything, but the path is far clearer if the democrats take the U.S. Senate.

Still, one may take courage if the GOP loses the Senate. Senator Manchin (WV) already said he would not vote to change the number of justices in the Supreme Court. It is also possible that the Supreme Court will not change at all in Biden’s presidency. Democrats will manage most of our country, but they are still held accountable by God, and by the American people.

It could very well be that Biden’s policies bring about American prosperity, but there is a very good chance the U.S. and likely the whole world is going to have far more pain, more than most of us have ever experienced. This will encompass nearly every area of life, economic, health and social issues to name a few. Sadly, one of the potential stumbling blocks of the next two years is COVID. Up to this point, many have maintained somewhat of a normal life. The stock market hit new all-time highs, and most people are optimistic of the vaccines. This could change though as already the new vaccine variants are said to have more contagion and higher viral loads. According to some scientists, the new South African variant, may need to have the vaccines tweaked to be effective. Most are not counting on a prolonged and worsening COVID crisis but we should not rule out further setbacks. Fortunately, for those who are most susceptible to Covid issues, Biden will mitigate this better than Trump. The risk with Biden is that he may overreact and require extensive shutdowns. Another benefit of Biden is conservatives will not be such a target for protests. Domestic terrorism should never change our behavior, but Biden winning changes the dynamic. Future protests will be more against the democrats.

So in the backdrop of covid, what are the democrats likely to do? Economically, they will likely make matters worse by increasing regulations and raising taxes. They also will spend even more than Trump. Biden has already said the last stimulus was a down payment. He expects far more. I imagine you will see $2,000 checks, but in return, the lifetime value of the dollar will decline further and faster. Sorry the old adage still stands; “there is no free lunch.”

Romans 5:3-4 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.

We need to gather ourselves to have patience and perseverance to overcome through God for the next two years. Path number three is not easy, yet the fruit of suffering is beneficial to those who view this through God. It could very well be that God is giving the democrats just enough rope to hang themselves. They may find themselves being totally unable to manage. If this is true, we should be grateful God is using them as the “fall guys.” They will get the blame, they will be the one whose infighting fractures their party, who are blamed for the poor economy and stock market drops. Most give the President far too much credit or blame for the economy anyway. Often this destiny is decided by innovation, productivity increases and the business cycle. Ultimately though it is God and the heart of a people that determine wealth and growth. Many think the Trump loss was a permanent setback. They do not see the rebuilding or renewal. Some even prematurely announce the mark of the beast and are awaiting the global government. Perhaps they are right to an extent that America will not recover. However, Obama was in office for eight years and controlled Congress for two years. Yes, there were setbacks, but it was not the end of America. America can overcome another 4 years of a Democrat as President. Had Trump won and suffering occurred, it could have set the Republicans so far back they might not recover. Demographics are already hurting Republicans so there has to be a catalyst to change the GOP into the future. This lost election and future suffering may be the salvation of the Republican Party, not its demise.

If the path is one of distress, there are two potential silver linings. First, it is hoped that people will turn to God. Even with Covid, many are not seeking God through this. Repentance frankly is not far or deep enough. (My life included). A larger shift to bringing in unbelievers also could occur during the next two years. I give this little space, but nothing is more important than our spiritual condition and America is far from where she can be in a state of revival and renewal.

As I previously mentioned, the second potential silver lining, is that people will flee from the democrats and toss their socialist ideas, their pipe dreams and aspirations into the dustbin for at least a number of years. So rather than the election being a loss of both Trump and Congress, it is a long-term, win-win for America and the church. In two years, (more if we harden our hearts further) we could turn the corner, first by retaking the Senate, and then restoring the Presidency in four years. Hard times will also press Americans together. We do not need partisan fighting but rather good ideas and a more efficient government in every area. Part of the reason for Trump’s loss was a lack of new ideas, there was no contract for America, whereby the Republicans outlined new policies and goals to accomplish. Republicans need to shift from personalities to articulating and advancing better policies.

So what should the Christian response be to Biden’s America? I may elaborate on this further in the future, but we should be diligent and watch what Washington is doing. There is nothing yet that should make us throw away American democracy. America is not dead yet. Yes, possibly the election was stolen. It was not the first and unfortunately will not be the last. Before we judge certain democrats in this though, we must judge ourselves. Republicans too have pulled stunts, suppressed voters and yes, they likely too, have stolen elections. It saddens me to see some Christians that want to give up, maybe even quit voting because it is not fair. They see hidden dangers and conspiracies in all kinds of innocuous government actions. So far, this is more dangerous than what the government is doing. I am not saying to quit resisting evil, but let’s be more of the solution and not part of the problem.

Proverbs 24:17 Do not gloat when your enemy falls; when they stumble, do not let your heart rejoice.

I know it is premature to write about the demise of socialist ideas in America when so many are thinking we are going beyond the point of no return. But what if God himself has drawn a line in the sand, and the democrats are soon to approach it? I will say it now. The Democratic Party is dead on arrival. I do wish them success, but American success is always measured by our long-term liberty and failure by our shackles. Many confuse covid restrictions with permanent damage, yet there is no proof of that as yet. We must be patient and let the Lord carry this burden. We shall all stand by as God deals with American and the Biden administration. We should not wish the democrats any evil, yet it is certainly righteous to hope for Godly change in America.
