There are temptations to defraud workers of their rightful wages by devaluing them in a nitpicking fashion. You would know in what spirit you are criticizing your employees for when you take pleasure in the profit of what you had defrauded them of from their wages.
There is nothing wrong with being rich....
1 Timothy 6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; 18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; 19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
... but God knows when you are defrauding your employees.
Malachi 3:5And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the Lord of hosts.
Matthew 25:40And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
So don't be a hypocrite, giving to charity to be seen of men of that which you had defrauded your workers of.
Matthew 6:22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. 23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! 24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. ...... 33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Don't hide behind your piling bills as an excuse for defrauding your workers either while your profits are untouched.
If your business is in the red, then you need to ask the Lord what He would have you do.
Freezing your employees wages or even taking a cut in pay should be led by your example. How much you yourself should take a cut more than others depends on how soon you want to be out of the red, but ask the Lord what you are to do. Maybe He has some ideas that will work even better, but don't kid yourself. He is with you always and knows exactly what and how you are doing things.
Colossians 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: 28Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
