Today's modern "Christianity" made up of millions of local church buildings around the world claim the name of Christ, but seem to disregard the grave warning given to us by Jesus so many years ago.
Think of the innocence of sheep and how vulnerable they are to the wolves who come to them in disguise. The true Christian, like sheep, must be on guard. Once they wander off the narrow path, they are unknowingly vulnerable to the attack of wolves who may be disguised as fellow sheep. Truthfully, if they should have their eyes fixed on the Shepheard (Jesus) they would be guarded from these attacks. One way the adversary sends out his wolves disguised as sheep is through heretics (wolves) who are disguised as Christians. Because what it means to be a Christian today seems to have no clear definition these wolves are misleading churchgoers around the world by the millions. Some of these wolves in sheep clothing include Hillsong Church led by Brian Houston, Elevation Church led by Steven Furtick, and Bethel Church led by Bill Johnson. These Mega Church empires have much in common, they are all based on great motivational speaking, rock star worship teams, and millions upon millions of people who follow them religiously around the world. However, although they claim the name of Christ (like most local churches do) they are well off of the narrow path Jesus spoke of.
Although their music seems harmless by itself (and is the mainstay staple in most modern local churches), it serves the exact purpose intended by these powerhouse empires vying for the attention of the many. These heretics teach messages that satisfy their listeners based on love, power, and a life in Christ. However, the full truth of the gospel is not part of their message. They are, behind the scenes, striving for and gaining wealth, fame, and power. Ironically, these are the very things Satan tempted Jesus with in the desert (Matthew 4:1-11). They are the very wolves Jesus warned us about, but do you find yourself singing and even liking their so-called worship songs? Regrettably, they are the central part of most modern local church songs delivered by worship teams.
This is what someone in disguise can do to the naïve when they blindly stray from the narrow path. The real question is, have they strayed from the narrow path or were they ever on it? What path are you on? What else is compromised in today's local church system that claims the name of Christ? How about sermons that skirt the true teachings of Jesus? What about the division from others in so-called local churches who also claim the name of Christ? Many are no further than just down the road or across the street! If Satan has you singing his songs and listening to his watered-down messages, how many people to your right or left in your congregations are simply playing church and have never truly surrendered everything in this world to follow Christ? It is time to truly follow Jesus, even if it means you must leave everything (including the local church system) to follow the Lord and serve the true kingdom of heaven. For many this price is just to high and this path is just too hard. How about for you!
