I'm really going to try this coming year to post more on my blog. God is doing a lot of stuff in my life but I just don't post so much about it anymore. Not sure why...I guess I'm just caught up in other things.
Anyway, 2013 has been an incredible year for me. It's been one of the best years that I've had in a very long time.
In March I received notice from a job I had worked at in Florida that they had a pension for me.
I'd had no idea.
To avoid a penalty I could not take it any of it until I was 59 !/2. So, I rolled the whole amount over to an IRA and then waited it out to mid Aug to take some of it and buy a car (1998 Chevy Blazer which I named Babette) and also took some days off work and drove up to NY (my first time there) to visit a couple of friends.
The first was my friend Ruth whom I knew from working at Campus Crusade. She took me to a small vineyard where we helped pick grapes then the vineyard owners made a dinner for us that night. Their was wine tasting and local entertainment. I had not seen her in years and it was really nice to see her again.
After a few days with her I went to north of Syracuse to see my friend Dan. We knew each other in Florida too. We were moving from Florida at the same time but I was not able to afford a trailer to haul my belongings. So that I would not lose everything he took what I couldn't and now I was there to pick it up. I could not get it all in my car but I did get a lot. I will have to go back at some point and get the rest.
So before I left Dan's house he had an extra GPS that he gave me. On the way home the GPS took me across NY into Buffalo. I started seeing signs for Niagara Falls. I had never seen Niagara Falls. I could not get this close and not go to see it. It is so beautiful. If I can figure out how I will attach a picture.
The car did well the whole way. I had no trouble at all. My cat whom I boarded at the vets did well too. It was his first time being boarded.
This last week we got notice at work that we were receiving a $1.75 an hour raise.
I love my job but the pay has not been good. I've been complaining to the Lord that He would work it out for the company to pay us better and look what He did. I'm still learning though to take my complaints to Him and not grumble to others about it. God is my provider.
So that's a quick wrap up of 2013. I'm doing so much better financially and I've been able to take care of financial obligations as well as support Missionary friends. That feels so good.
Of course others things happened but what I've shared were the major highlights. Like I said I'll try and continue sharing here what is going on my life. Also sharing what God is showing me in the scriptures.
