OVERVIEW
`For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body,...` (Phil. 3: 20 & 21)
What a wonderful hope we have as believers in the Body of Christ - heaven and glorious bodies. And still more in that we are adopted and accepted in the beloved, having received the Holy Spirit of promise, and are made citizens together with the Lord and other believers.
Truly we are a blessed people, the Body of Christ.
The group, the Body of Christ was not known in previous times before Christ. It was only Israel and the Gentile nations that were on earth. However once the Lord ascended He sent His Holy Spirit to make a special group, called His Body.
Many people today do not understand what a privilege it is to belong to this group, and what an absolutely amazing inheritance we have to look forward to.
Thus we need to say like the Apostle Paul -
`Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended, (resurrection); but one thing I do forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press towards the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.` (Phil. 3: 13 & 14)
High - Greek word `ano` meaning upward or on top.
The high calling, the on top calling with Christ in heaven.
Let`s now look at - What the Body of Christ is, how it comes to maturity and finally the great inheritance promised to the believers in His Body, the Body of Christ.
