I've been building computers and fixing computers for almost my whole life (since I was seven or so) My life has always been pre Christ living, breathing, sleeping, computers. And post christ living breathing sleeping computers and God. I always have to have the latest and greatest technological marvels. I take pride in building my computers because I make them fast, great, and works of art.
Sometimes this does cause problems because building the latest and greatest isn't cheap. A typical one of my builds costs at least $4,000. Sometimes up to $6,000.
I also tend to come off as a little snotty to people in the computer world because I'll tell them facts like 1440p 144hz gaming has been the standard of gaming for over 6 years now....
This is more of a discussion, (Actually I meant 12 tribes, but meh) but here is the way I view the topic.
Judah is the Catholic Church because it has popes which are basically mirrors of the kings.
Benjamin is the Orthodox church because it also resonates strongly with the passage "and this is why Benjamin is small" it also resonates with the Judges era where the tribe of Benjamin met said disaster.
The other 10 tribes are of the Reformation and post Reformation groups. This is illustrated in the story of Jeroboam and Rehoboam, the crux of the issue was even over the amount of "works" that needed to be done.
I find this understanding helpful in mapping out whereabouts we are today relative to previous biblical patterns, which is...
I used to be pre trib but it seems most people are pre-trib because that makes them feel the best. Perhaps thats why Jesus always said he is coming soon. It gives you a sense of urgency that makes you behave the best and happier as well. I also don't think pretrib/rapture is how God operates. It doesn't seem to me like it's God's style to take billions of people out from the earth. He likes to work in secret and it would be no secret if that happened.
Growing up in the Synagogues, the Book of Life was a regular topic of conversation and a frequent sermon the Rabbis would give, but in Christianity it seems to be a rare subject. The other day I heard a TV Pastor say "You must get your name in the Book of Life!" Wrong! It's already there, we need to keep our names in it. Here is what Moses asked the LORD:
Yet now, if Thou wilt forgive their sin-; and if not, blot me, I pray Thee, out of Thy book which Thou hast written. Exodus 32:32
The Book of Life holds everyone's name who is alive today, and everyone's name who has ever lived. And yes, that is the book we need to keep our names in. When all is said and done with this flesh age, our names will remain in the Book...
Here in Southwest Virginia....
1. My Pentecostal Holiness pastor has a Masters Degree from Liberty
2. Many Baptist preachers hold degrees from Liberty
3. Many of all denominations and independents hold degrees from Liberty
4. I helped support a niece through Liberty, who latter went on to work at Virginia Tech
5. Liberty University represents the Moral Majority, a prominent American political organization associated with the Christian right and Republican Party.
6. Liberty University represents Christianity on planet earth.
The name Liberty University is now associated with scandal, which takes from the luster of anyone associated with them or who holds a degree from there. I understand Liberty is now investigated their former...
In all of scripture - God's warnings, rightly understood, were given to spare people some dire consequence.
And of course his end-times warnings in the Bible are "off the charts" loud and in your face drastic. (See Rev 13 for example)
Here is the BIG question
If you look at the subforums and each of their titles for this area of the board - all the different end-times scenarios... then:
1. "What difference does it make?" - for the one ignoring all of it?
In other words "so what"?
Can you name any risk at all for the person who says
"I accept Christ as savior - I read only the 4 gospels... (but not Matt 24 or any section dealing with end times) .. I ignore everything in the Bible that talks about the last...
I don't believe that this is considered unorthodox theology, but it's definitely controversial. Do all children go to Heaven? Are there any in Hell? When do they start becoming accountable for their sins? For me,.. I honestly can't picture any six or seven year olds in Hell,.. but teenagers on the other hand,... That's a different story. What do you guys think?
Yes, we all agree that divorce is not part of God’s plan. However, I’ve seen a few videos where some pastors say you MUST get another divorce if you have been remarried and your first spouse is still alive, otherwise you’re in an unforgivable and perpetual state of adultery, even if you have a family and children with your current spouse.
Compare that with pastors who performed the marriage ceremony of the same couple above. Is that pastor also guilty of perpetuating adultery?
One pastor says “get another divorce or you can’t be forgiven”. Another pastor says, “God forgives you”.
What’s your take? Which pastor is correct?
