Not sure why I see it this way. Practically nobody else does.
It seems to me that when Constantine demanded that Christianity be reduced to a written formula (AKA belief-based system) that he changed everything.
Outside of changing feast days and locations of historical events, he created a system where one was a member of the official religion if one believed certain facts and adopted certain practices.
I even suspect that this may have been the person Daniel spoke of. And think...that...
I noted this fact here, but it bears emphasizing: the political and media elites are doing all they can to mislead you into thinking that the problem of jihad terror is not as large and urgent as it is. Even if the Munich killer turns out to be the deranged Breivikian of media fantasy, the fact that the BBC omitted mention of his Islamic name is suspicious in the extreme, and demonstrates that the media has an agenda far beyond simply reporting the facts. . . Hello Brethren and Sistren,
So this is triggered by 2 Corinthians 5:14,15,
"...the love of Christ compels/controls us ... ... that we should no longer live for ourselves .."
But we also believe that Christ has set us free, John 8:31,32 and Galatians 5:1.
So if we are controlled and compelled, in what does our freedom consist? How are we free?
As Christians we should never think of ourselves as independent. We believe that we are totally dependent on God for everything and that we are each...
Many Christian households around the world (Including mine) swear by the 1611 First Edition King James bible and refuse to read or hear any other translations of the bible. This phenomenon has been dubbed in Christianity "KingJamesOnlyism".
A rather silly and stupid term But, I'll use it. So, to explain and defend KingJamesonlyism and to debate why so many Christians are "converting" to KingJamesOnlyism I'll lead with this.
Out of the multiple bible choices that exist in the world today,...
I am a little confused about this verse.
"Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth."
The word that was translated to "meats" actually means "food". So to me, it looks like this bible verse is saying not to tell people to abstain from certain foods. But what does that mean exactly?
I THINK the word "abstain" means to not let yourself do something, even if you feel like doing...
"I have faith in God" seems to always be able to be translated in two ways:
1) "I have trust in God because evidence suggests he is trustworthy"
2) "I have evidence which I find compelling for God's existence"
Faith and evidence are closely linked.
In the first case, faith is akin to trust in God's abilities. This is wholly separate than faith that God exists. Consider the analogy that I have faith that my wife will come home on time versus the faith that I have that my wife exists.
I am greatly disturbed and at odds as to how to resolve this issue. This election in November has been characterized by American voter's as a choice between "two evils". Should Christians be voting in such an election ? Wouldn't we be voting for "Evil" in either circumstance ?...
I've heard plenty of CF members express their conviction to vote for one or the other of the candidates. I did the same a few weeks ago, but now as the election draws nearer, my conscience is saying NO....
"There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown."
How does this verse say that the Giants were the offsprings of the union between sons of god and daughter of men?? The verse states that there were Giants in the earth in those days and after that. The children of the sons of god and daughters of men are call men of renown....
