I happened to read up online that Christmas is a pagan holiday that the Catholic church adopted to convince pagans to join their church. That it actually originally worshiped the Sun God or something like that.
Is it true? And if so, are we not to celebrate Christmas?
This troubles me because I have always looked at Christmas a time of joy, of goodwill, of spending time with family. And even though I didn't grow up that religious, I do recall praying in front of the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve one year to God. And I felt really good doing so, I thought He was listening.
Plus...my family celebrates and meets on Christmas and I don't really get to see the one side of my family until Christmas.
So yeah, what do you think? What...
This is primarily a question about mastering the ability to forgive others whom you have online interactions with, although it could naturally also apply to personal relationships as well if that's something anyone would also like to discuss.
But where are you in your ability to forgive those who offend you online, especially other brothers and sisters in Christ who instead of acting brotherly are openly rude and insulting to you? But please note, I am NOT asking have you mastered the ability to not become angry with those who offend you. Quite the opposite. I am asking have you mastered the ability to forgive others when they did offend or anger you.
If you have developed ways and systems of mastering this, please describe the...
In my last thread, because of comments by some others, I was accused of believing in Universal Salvation. As I understand the term, I categorically do not believe that everyone will be saved regardless of their response to Christ. I believe that Christ died for all mankind, taking the sins of all the world upon himself, but we still have to accept or reject that gift by believing the Gospel.
However, to be honest, I have never really researched what people believe who declare Universal Salvation. So I am inviting all those who believe it to show me why you believe it.
I am not setting this up as a bait to convince you otherwise. But I will honestly disagree or agree depending on what is said. Please let me know why you believe in...
Which is more important to you, your religion or your personal relationship with Jesus? Is it more important to go to church every service, or is it more useful to read your Bible, to know and obey what it says? (I am not talking about never going to church.)
I am 2 weeks into NC with my ex GF of 4.5 years (ouch) but im confused about one thing
1. the final stage of moving on is learning and accepting that your partner has moved on
2. No contact prevents you from knowing if they have moved on
so does that not mean that if I stay in NC I wont be able to recieve that final closure?
After reading a post by Solomon's Porch, here on Christian forums I am convince we are with in our generation going to see the return of Jesus, and that demons will appear to the public to be aliens.
So i have created a Website at Say ufNo - if it is coming talking about some of these topics. I rushed it up tonight, let me know if there is anything you would like to see added.
If Jesus did already return what conditions should we expect to exist?
I will just get to the point: Is Purgatory real? Didn't Christ already pay for our sins (taking the punishment for us) when He died in the Cross? Aren't we covered in the blood of the lamb? This life on Earth is a waiting place for us; why go to another waiting place? Aren't we made clean by accepting His death?
Why did Jesus tell his disciples they wouldn't finish going through the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes? (Mt. 10:23) Is it true they lived to see the coming of the son of man?
