Anyone know Yiddish at all? I know it is a language influenced by aramaic, slavic and other languages spoken by Jews around the 9th century. Very interesting.

I know my dad speaks a little Slovak, and he used to always say "oy vey!" when us kids baffled him into exhaustion. :)

It's an interesting language. My father was fluent in German, specifically modern, High German. When I read Yiddish, however, it's *really* difficult for me to understand. I have a much easier time with modern High German than with Yiddish, which is so unlike what my Dad would speak, that to my ears it's virtually incomprehensible. Even basic vocabulary words are different. It's clearly Germanic, but much of the vocabulary is unique to itself.
