MAPLE VALLEY, Wash. - A woman who had been missing for eight days was found alive in her car at the bottom of a steep ravine after searchers traced a signal from her cell phone. The woman's husband praised rescuers but was critical of police, telling NBC's TODAY show Friday that they didn't investigate until four days after she vanished.

Rubbish (and/or plain ole laziness)!! Any time there's a missing person the cops will investigate, but they won't necessarily tell the other party if the person just chose to "disappear."

Its not that we didnt take him seriously, Chinnick said. We dont take every missing person report on adults. ... If we did, wed be doing nothing but going after missing person reports.Adults are entitled to privacy if they decide to do something out of the ordinary, and Chinnick said Riders initial missing person report did not contain either of the two elements that would trigger an immediate search: evidence of foul play or unusual vulnerability such as age, mental condition or lack of critical medications.
