ONLY God saves. ONLY He knows the ultimate answer to this question. So ask Him if you are really that interested in the answer--for the right reasons. Because from the sound of it, after carefully reading through these posts, no one really knows the answer to why God saves one and not the other, just as I realized long ago. It's essentially all human conjecture on this side of the clouds. Isn't it. Yeah.
God says He saves who He wants to and determines who He will have mercy on. WHY, God? I want to know. Why do you not save the child who's been a captive of sexual slavery since five years old? Why do you allow her life and so many others lives to be so colored by sin so much they don't know what love is, having never known it and probably never will? Why don't You REACH out and touch HER heart to open it to Jesus Christ, when You can move the hearts of kings like rivers? Why don't You? You are no respector of persons, so is it a lack of workers? Who's fault is that? Get us off OUR DUFFS then. Because only You can do that, too!
Do not expect me to mince words. Not even with God.
Yes only God and the saved person know the answer to that question. And yes you as an individual can know your own situation.
1 John 5:13 These things have I written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.
John expresses that what has been written is for our own knowledge of our salvation.
Not for you to know my salvation, or me yours. But our own.
As to the second portion of your post. How do you know? How do you know God did not save the sex slave? Remember Lazarus outside the rich man's house? The dogs came to lick his sores. Just because a person is living what you and I would call a terrible life has no relevance on if they were saved or not. That is the problem the Jews had at the time, they had gotten into a ideology that the "wealthier" you are, the more blessed by God you must be. Remember the blind man who was blind from birth, they blamed that on the sins of the parents.
You are right in that a problem is the lack of workers. And no that is not God's fault either.
Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
So we have been told as believers we are to go out and reach the world. That slave could be sitting there because we have not been doing our part in reaching the world. No one has ever come to the knowledge of Christ without another person doing something. A person walking down the street finding a track in the road, reading it, and comes to faith in Christ did not get there without another person printing that track.
I said it before...your neighbor is not saved because you have not shared the Gospel with him. How else is anyone supposed to hear the Gospel if not through us? We all sit on our "duffs" waiting for someone else to save our neighbor. "If he really wants to be saved he can come to church", "Who hasn't heard the name Jesus Christ today?","There are plenty of TV evangelists on, I am sure he can tune into one of them if he wants to hear the word."
