With respect to salvation, no works equals no salvation. Matt 25:31 and following. Ezekiel 18--the righteous shall live and not die, but the wicked shall die and not live. Paul also said faith without love is worthless. 1 Cor 13:2 James said faith without works is dead. John said a failure to love results in not being a child of God. First John. Jesus said in Revelation the ones who had left their first love and were luke warm made him sick.

Works are not the substance (producer) of salvation; works are the result of salvation. Salvation comes first, works are a necessary second.
