A doctor says a person is dying of cancer...he has done all the tests
knows the prognosis...etc.

Psalm 103:3
Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

Jesus says I am annointed to heal the broken hearted deliver the captives and set at liberty those who are bruised.

Jesus says by My stripes you are healed.

4Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

Jesus says he gives us rest and peace and joy

Jesus says he gives good gifts to those who ask Him

Jesus says nothing is impossible with God

Matthew 7:11
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

luke
9And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
10For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened

So has has all power and authority.
Who should we believe:)

Ahh, the old either/or proposition.

The answer is: Believe BOTH.

Jesus can heal the spirit, doctors can heal the body.

True, Jesus can intervene on rare occasions to heal the body, but generally speaking he doesn't. So if a doctor says you are dying of cancer, you probably are.

? Doctors don't have "all authority" over disease though, right?

That's the good news?!
Here's how I believe it works, based on the passages that AnnRobert posted,
If a doctor says you are dying,... you tell Him, oh no I'm not, GOD is the author
of life and then you fight for your life.

My uncle was on his deathbed a few months ago and the family decided to take
him off life support, I got the phonecall that the plug would be pulled that very hour..
I went to the prayer closet, ,discouraged and came out feeling victorious (the victory
is ours when the battle is the Lords, no?) I prayed for his life ..literally spoke a word
only...
HE left the hospital threeish days later.
THOSE doctors said he would die,
My GOD said, HE is the final answer.
(True story, abbreviated for your comfort)
Change your mind bro.

Sometimes Jesus can heal a person through the hands of a doctor. :)
Amen.
He can do what He chooses using any method he likes
as far as I'm concerned.

Awesome.God has the final say and loves to heal diseases.ISAIAH 53,includes forgiveness, healing for sorrows and our mind, and body.God did not change His mind later and decide to limit it to salvation ,or salvation and spiritual ,He made it clear it was for sorrows and grief, for peace and for healing.

A physician, medical practitioner, doctor of medicine, or medical doctor practices medicine, and is concerned with maintaining or restoring human health through the study, diagnosis, and treatment of disease and injury. This is accomplished through a detailed knowledge of anatomy, physiology, diseases and treatment — the science of medicine — and its applied practice — the art or craft of medicine.

The eithor/or logic here can be used in a number of interesting applications.

Because Jesus has ALL authority, the government has none and I should cease paying taxes. If you believe that, I will send you a Christmas card to Leavenworth, Kansas.

The reality is that the ultimate power and authority belong to God, but, in his divine wisdom, he has established various authorities on this earth which ultimately are subject to Him, but which are used by Him to His eternal glory.

It is never an either/or question.

The bible tells us to be subject to authorites so long as it does not involve going against Jesus.Jesus also paid taxes.
However Jesus healing us is in no way ignoring government authorities.

I'm so thankful that I went into the prayer closet and got a word
from God that day. After praying for the uncle and waiting, KNOWING
and expecting to receive the news that he'd rallied back ... my faith
for healing is that much stronger yet.
I was able to use that story and encourage a friend a month later whos
husband was in a very close situation. She's standing and her husband
is now out of the woods, home and has stopped drinking too.
I believe that God will finish the job btw, total healing, not j ust
physical, but that these men are heirs to salvation
Stand and SEE the salvation of the Lord
:bow::clap:

God is always good, amen?

According to her words above (which I bolded and changed to red) I
dont think she's implying that we don't use modern medicine.
God gave us a sound mind
However, in the scenario that she posted, where the doc says
"you gonna die boy" we should obviously appeal to higher authority.
Anyone who loves life will, in fact, if they have faith that God WOULD
heal them, will go to Him.
Problem is, unfortunately, many are taught that " well Gawd must want
me to go through this thing to teach me a lesson..." etc.
Scripture says ask... receive... etc lol
Truly we are to be vessels bringing God's good news to the hurting.

OP, let me ask this question:

Suppose you have a young child. The child catches a terrible disease that requires expert care and aid.

Do you simply pray or do you go to a doctor?

We pray fervently knowing Jesus hears every prayer.
Also we go to a doctor and use modern medicine.

Yet you imply in your initial post that we shouldn't have any trust in doctors, so why then go?

I am not trying to make fun of you. Rather, I am concerned: the theology that you have used here has been used as an excuse by legal guardians of all flavors to not bring their legal children to immediate medical attention with death, usually highly preventative, as the result.

Can doctors make mistakes? Sure. Does it happen often? Very, very, very rarely. I have family members in the medical field in my immediate family and, while none are doctors, they have each received specialist education and work with doctors. They tell me all sorts of stories of things that go on in the hospitals.

No one here questions that Jesus can heal. Yet medicine is a knowledge that humanity can grasp. We, like Jesus, can heal. I myself am a multiple-time living testimony; from kidney stones to hernia; from a shattered thumb to a nearly bashed-out eye. Jesus Himself did not heal me but in His infinite mercy, being God, He appointed humanity to learn and comprehend the ways of medicine. Therefore, He provided me with the healing that I needed without actually doing it Himself. He could have, but He knew that it wasn't my time and that it wasn't necessary.

I do trust the doctors, nurses, and other medical practitioners around me to provide me with the best care. Of course I still pray, but I am confident in the knowledge, skill, and practicality of those who actively work to heal or cure me as well.

I was saying after a person has been to a doctor, had tests done and the doctor has given up and said they were dying,
Does the doctor have the final say?
do we accept his prognosis and give up
Or do we go to Jesus knowing that Jesus said He forgives all our sins and heals all our diseases?

No..

No..
Nice....
do we go to Jesus knowing that Jesus said He forgives all our sins and heals all our diseases?
We go to Jesus...

So..During the Word of Faith movement a sudden drop came upon them, The story goes like this, A Word of Faith Church was poisoned, (in which year i don't remember) well anyway, to go into detail, the drinks were poisoned and all who drank were filled with poison. Someone called the ambulance, the ambulance arrived and offered help to those who were poisoned. They refused, zealously saying things such as... "God is our healer", "By His Stripes we were healed", "I am healed" etc. Most of the poisoned people died and the rest fell unconcious..

Long story short.. a few were saved because of God's work through the the trained hand of medical personal etc. The rest of course were dead.

If you have any light to shine please do.

The doctor more than likely has the final say. Miracles can and do happen, but when my last grandfather developed cancer in four areas, God chose to concentrate on healing his soul and not his body.

Its been two years and a month now. I don't blame the doctors nor God. I don't even blame the cancer. It was unfortunately his time, despite our prayers for curing.

He's now probably in Abraham's Bosom. I wear an Anglican rosary on my right arm sometimes in particular remembrance of him.

When a doctor says the prognosis is fatal, pray more for the healing of the soul more than for the body.
