What is the unforgivable sin?

To spurn the grace God offers and to never repent of it.

Utterly tragic.

One cannot be forgiven of something they never repent of, especially if they've SEEN God's offer of grace, and heard it, and yet, willfully spurn it.

Eternal tragedy it is.

I don't wish for anyone to be in that tragic place, do you?

Fiery Murmurings

Fiery murmurings, skulls and bones,
darkly moving shadowy groans
Pits of bondage
Howls of pain
haunting sorrows
Gnawing shame
Hope is gone
All is lost
What a pity
What a cost
To cast aside the grace
That would’ve saved you
From this place.

What did Jesus mean by blaspheming the holy spirit? I know it was in context of the pharisees attributing his works to satan, but could we today commit this sin?
If someone, was once a christian, but then stopped believing, rejecting Jesus, and hating him (Cussing, slander, etc), but then later on down the road he has an epiphany and changes his heart, mind and soul. to live a life for God, truly repents, and accepts Jesus into his life. Could he be saved or is it too late?
Basically my question is:
Is there any point, in any ones life, that they cannot repent and be saved? Regardless of what they have done or said about the trinity?

Is this post http://www.gotquestions.org/blasphemy-Holy-Spirit.html correct in saying that we cannot commit this sin, as it is stated in matthew, and the only way to commit it, is to die an unbeliever?

I apologize if this is the wrong place to put this, and if it is, let a mod move it, or lock it, and let me know where to post it. This was just the most relevant sub forum I could find, as it pertains to salvation, and if we can lose it.

No, it's not too late.

Amen, precious sister. May He break every chain, in Jesus mighty name, amen. (((hug)))
AMEN! (((hugs you back)))

People of God in our precious Lord Jesus Christ, remember who you are. Let no one lead you down the path of darkness they pepper with invitation through harsh words, personal attacks, blasphemy of our precious Father, His word, or his sacred beloved Son Jesus Christ. Do not follow in equal measure with a mean spirit and angry tongue. STOP! For there is too much of this kind of dark intent appearing here of late. STOP! Take a breath , and remember your Baptism. See how but for the grace of our Father those who live in anger could be us today?
We live a beautiful life even in stress of making the bills, hoping for that job, dealing with the personal issues each one of us know intimately, because we have God at our back. Countless Angels at our call, and the holiest of spirits living inside us. Who can attack us and make it hurt given all that and with the weapons of printed words here in this Christian's community? Why would they even try? That is the question too.

Pray for those that oppose you. Those that sling hate like arrows toward you and your belief and are opposed to the truth of the Word Himself. But do not throw hateful arrows back at your attackers. It is their pain that makes them aim and fire. How heartbreaking is that? :(

God protect this forum. Pray for your enemies. God's mercy and will is greater than any adversary on earth and is certainly greater than the adversary from Hell. Fear not the Lord is with thee. AMEN! And Amen!

Hebrews 6:4-6 talks about rejecting Jesus as one's Savior after having the Holy Spirit and the gifts thereof. It says that it is impossible to come back thru repentance after this point. A person should know if they denied Jesus or not after having the power of the Holy Spirit in their life. While this is not the same unforgivable sin as the one Jesus talked about, it is also a sin that cannot be forgiven (if one has indeed committed it). A person will know whether or not if they can be restored by God or not. They will try to repent of their sins over and over and still not find the peace with God (that they once had).

Please take note: Hebrews 6:4-6, is not talking about backsliding into sin. We know by the Parable of the Prodigal Son and James 5:19-20 that a person can come back home to the Father to the saving of their soul (and the forgiveness of their sin) if they backslide into a life of sin.

I believe if one is angry at God or Christ (and they have not denied Him as their Savior), they can come back. Being angry at God is not the same as denying Him as your Savior. Also, cursing God in general is not the same as speaking bad words specifically against the Holy Spirit. If one speaks bad words against the Holy Spirit, it cannot be forgiven (either in this life or the one to come, i.e. the Millennium).

I have never said that. It is a lie.

God protect this forum.

Will doing good works or evil works get one to heaven?

Romans 2
6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds:
7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:
8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,

God is going to render to EVERY man (and yes, women too) ACCORDING TO HIS/HER DEEDS. That's is a surety.

What is He going to render? It's either eternal life or indignation and wrath. That's a surety.

On what condition is He going to render? Patient continuance is well doing or obeying unrighteousness. That's a surety.

God will protect those who continue in doing good. I have no idea why a Christian would not believe these words. It is perhaps they have not cast away evil to make themselves a new heart and new spirit. The evil has deceived them to think God will allow evil in His kingdom.

Could we stop arguing about 'works' please?
No one here, ever said, that doing good things is bad.
No one said, God doesn't want us to do good.
No one said, they had a problem with doing good, and people who do good.

No one said that you don't have to do good things to get into heaven.

You've misunderstood the posts, if you get any of these messages.

Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

We can still debate/talk about it, just the accusations, and the arguing, needs to stop.
Someones eventually going to get their feelings hurt and then this becomes a place of hate, instead of love.

I agree, whatever topic we are talking about, we have to be crazy, wildly careful in making sure we are kind, loving, and good to even those we strongly disagree with. We have to love. But sometimes tough love is telling people the truth in what they do not want to hear so as to help them. We just have to be careful how we express the truth. It most assuredly most be done in love.
