Post a link or two!

GT is all about discussing what we believe, and comparing notes. The only drawback to this is that we don't always get an accurate picture, due to the back and forth, polarized nature of discussionl. So I thought it would be good to give everyone a chanee to post a few links to what they really believe. Official statements are great, and informal, more popularized ones can also be very helpfull for those wanting the basics.

I have gained more of a blessing at times reading content in links that were posted by users here than in back and forth discussions. So post your material!

Please indicate what faith you are, provide the link, and then I will try to re-post all of them in this first post. And please, do not post for any other faith. Deceit is against Christian principles. I hope all of this is acceptable to the moderators as well. And any moderator who wants to help maintain the list by editing this post, feel free!

NOTE: to make the list easier to read, and more uniform give the liinks in the following format:

Church name
Link Link description
Link 2Link2 description

(Those groups which are fortunate enough to have sub-forums can have discussion if there is any dispute about which resources should be used)

Just a quick question, but is there a denominational affiliation here? I don't mind giving independent sites, but I would like some description please.

Thanks

I know, I know, I am really a stickler, but I only put denominations that you belong to. So are you currently a member of one of these?

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Actually, that's understandable! No, I'm not currently a member of either, although I was a member of the Church of Christ all through my youth and went to a CofC college...so in my heart, I will always be a member, I think. :) But, I'm not on the membership books of either.

But it's a good gatekeeper idea- that way, no weird, false information about a denomination can spread. Excellent!

The Roman Church put God in a box in the steple house, but now whole Churches are traped in little boxes, and are dying going thought the same thing every Sunday, traped in a tradition.

I visited one today it was like going to the dentist, I could not wait to get out, I love the church, but I can not go back to that. For me now church has to be outside of the four walls, if I find others to worship with on not, but I can not go back.

I love Jesus and His Church, but if the Church dose not get back to book of Acts preaching and new testament worship, that church will die.

Sir, you may wish to make a different topic to take up such a discussion. I am sure you would get some comments. But it is beyond the scope of this thread. This is just for posting links to church's statements of their belliefs.

Ah, look like interesting links :) However, I need you to identify which one you belong to.

I recognize that they are both associated with the see of Rome, but I am trying to make sure no one is misrepresented.

I am a Catholic but not a Byzantine or Anglican useage. By being a Catholic, we can belong to or particiapte in the 23 other catholic Rites w/out hesitation plus, the the encyclicals comes from the Pope himself and EWTN information comes from Roman Rite Catholic sources as well. Any of the Eastern catholic members like Shelb5 can vouch for this.

The Anglican use is not a seperate church or rite but another tradition within my Rite (roman rite) of saying the Liturgry of the word and eucharist.

I'm glad for this list and believe it helpful, but I have some comments...

1. MANY Christians don't officially belong to any denomination, and so don't have an official website of a denomination that defines their beliefs.

2. MANY Christians who do belong to a denomination don't necessarily fully embrace everything that denomination teaches or does (or even knows such). To assume that a Catholic agrees with the Catholic Church on everything, or that a Reformed believer agrees with everything in the Westminister Confession, IMO, would be presumptious and probably wrong.

3. IMO, sometimes the best way to know what an individual poster believes about something is to ask them rather than check out the doctrine page of the denomination to which they are affiliated.

Just MY view...

BTW, one of the first things I did here was to create a thread where I state, basically, what my faith is and to create a link to it in every post.
