I'll give you a list of my favorite authors.

Ray Bradbury (especially the martian chronicles and illustrated man)
Stephen Lawhead (especially the iron lance trilogy)
C.S. Lewis (Screwtape Letters, Great Divorce, Narnia)
All Tolkien
Dostoyevsky
Kierkegaard (sp?)

as far as easy quick reading, Bradbury or Lewis would be the way to go.

I really enjoyed "Deceiving Hitler", about the British Double Cross system.

Have you read Digital fortress its really cool, I want to read it again and again.

When the NSA's invincible code-breaking machine encounters a mysterious code it cannot break, the agency calls in its head cryptographer, Susan Fletcher, a brilliant and beautiful mathematician. What she uncovers sends shock waves through the corridors of power. The NSA is being held hostage...not by guns or bombs, but by a code so ingeniously complex that if released it will cripple U.S. intelligence.

Wow, that looks really cool.

I had recommended Angels & Demons, but never read it. This looks like more up my alley.
