can anyone post a list of names?
I would like to read their bios or memoirs or testimony. For starting a church library collection perhaps.

Ok they don't have to be pastors or missionaries but also ordinary people who grew up in the church and became famous.

Like Whitney Houston for example. In her concerts she preached on Jesus and sang about Him, totally with the holy spirit in her voice. But sadly, she struggled with demons, drugs and alcohol and the music industry. She grew up in the baptist church and came to faith later...she got baptised as a believer.

Eva Cassidy the singer also attended a baptist church when she was young. Thats where her love of gospel music came from. I don't know she was baptised though...?

And also the founder of Rhode Island, the first Abolitionist in America, and the man who coined the phrase "wall of separation between the garden of the Church and the wilderness of the World" that Jefferson later cribbed?

I was intrigued by JM's first list (or rather, one particular entry), so had a quick search. These are all ministers/pastors or other representatives from Baptist churches across England and Wales, who signed the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith (and presumably debated it). What is often not understood is the significance of the year. All these churches had endured years of persecution. Most (if not all) would have been founded under persecution. And had grown.

Until 1687, they were all members of illegal, underground churches. Some of these men would have suffered severe fines, imprisonment, or confiscation of all their processions. Some names are missing from this list because they were exiled into slavery.

After 80 years of almost continuous persecution, the Declaration of Indulgence issued by King James II, on 4 April 1687, brought religious freedom. Baptists were quick to take advantage of this new freedom.

All true. The Confession was first published anonymously in 1677, 79 and repubed in 89.

2015 The Open (formerly known as the British Open) winner and 2007 Masters winner Zach Johnson is a Baptist. He's won 12 PGA tournaments and left the Catholic church to become a Baptist, which makes it even better. *With those two major wins he should make it into the Hall of Fame. And more importantly, he's not shy about his faith and gives all credit for his success to the Lord.
