Four children hurt when waterspout lifts bounce house on Fort Lauderdale Beach | Sun Sentinel

Four children were injured — one seriously — on Monday when a waterspout spun ashore in Fort Lauderdale Beach Park and lifted a pair of bounce houses into the sky, authorities said.

Three of the children had to be taken to Broward Health Medical Center about 12:30 p.m., said Deputy Chief Timothy Heiser of Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue.

All three were under 8 years old, according to Fort Lauderdale Police Sgt. DeAnna Greenlaw. One was being held overnight for observation, with the two others released after being treated for minor injuries, including fractures.

After the children fell from the moving bounce house, they were attended to immediately by members of the God Squad, volunteers from various churches and religious organizations who work to keep the peace during the long holiday weekend.

The God Squad members "were able to keep things calm" as parents and others in the crowd reacted with alarm, Greenlaw said.

Amazing video. Apparently, the children were all thrown out of the "fun" house before it really got lifted up high in the air.
