So why put Wal-Mart in charge? They'd continue to tax you to subsidize their workers salaries, rather than make less profit for themselves.

Hmmm...sounds like what the current administration did for the UAW

Wal-Mart vs. The Morons (NOT A JOKE)

This is spot-on.
PLEASE, READ THIS TO THE END. IT IS VERY INTERESTING!!!
Wal-Mart vs. The Morons

1. Americans spend $36,000,000 at Wal-Mart Every hour of
every day.

2. This works out to $20,928 profit every minute!

3. Wal-Mart will sell more from January 1 to St. Patrick's
Day (March 17th) than Target sells all year.

4. Wal-Mart is bigger than Home Depot + Kroger + Target +Sears
+ Costco + K-Mart combined.

5. Wal-Mart employs 1.6 million people, is the world's largest
private employer, and most speak English.

6. Wal-Mart is the largest company in the history of the world.

7. Wal-Mart now sells more food than Kroger and Safeway
combined, and keep in mind they did this in only fifteen years.

8. During this same period, 31 big supermarket chains sought
bankruptcy.

9. Wal-Mart now sells more food than any other store in the
world.

10. Wal-Mart has approx 3,900 stores in the USA of which 1,906
are Super Centers; this is 1,000 more than it had five years ago.

11. This year 7.2 billion different purchasing experiences will
occur at Wal-Mart stores. (Earth's population is approximately
6.5 Billion.)

12. 90% of all Americans live within fifteen miles of a Wal-Mart.

You may think that I am complaining, but I am really laying the
ground work for suggesting that MAYBE we should hire the guys
who run Wal-Mart to fix the economy.

This should be read and understood by all Americans… Democrats,
Republicans, EVERYONE!!

To President Obama and all 535 voting members of the Legislature

It is now official that the majority of you are corrupt morons:

a.. The U.S. Postal Service was established in 1775. You have
had 237 years to get it right and it is broke.

b... Social Security was established in 1935. You have had 77
years to get it right and it is broke.
c.. Fannie Mae was established in 1938. You have had 74 years
to get it right and it is broke.

d.. War on Poverty started in 1964. You have had 48 years to
get it right; $1 trillion of our money is confiscated each
year and transferred to "the poor" and they only want more.

e.. Medicare and Medicaid were established in 1965. You have
had 47 years to get it right and they are broke.

f.. Freddie Mac was established in 1970. You have had 42 years
to get it right and it is broke.

g.. The Department of Energy was created in 1977 to lessen our
dependence on foreign oil. It has ballooned to 16,000 employees
with a budget of $24 billion a year and we import more oil than
ever before. You had 35 years to get it right and it is an
abysmal failure.

You have FAILED in every "government service" you have shoved
down our throats while overspending our tax dollars.

AND YOU WANT AMERICANS TO BELIEVE YOU CAN BE TRUSTED
WITH A GOVERNMENT-RUN HEALTH CARE SYSTEM??

Folks, keep this circulating. It is very well stated. Maybe
it will end up in the e-mails of some of our "duly elected'
(they never read anything) and their staff will clue them in
on how Americans feel.
AND
I know what's wrong. We have lost our minds to "Political
Correctness" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Someone please tell me what the HELL's wrong with all the
people that run this country!!!!!!
We're "broke" & can't help our own Seniors, Veterans, Orphans,
Homeless etc.,???????????
In the last months we have provided aid to Haiti , Chile ,
Japan and Turkey..And now Pakistan ........previous home of
bin Laden. Literally, BILLIONS of DOLLARS!!!

Our retired seniors living on a 'fixed income' receive no aid
nor do they get any breaks…

AMERICA: a country where we have homeless without shelter,
children going to bed hungry, elderly going without 'needed'
meds, and mentally ill without treatment -etc,etc.

Imagine if the *GOVERNMENT* gave 'US' the same support they
give to other countries. Sad isn't it?

Too long; Didn't read.

Looks like you meant to forward an email.

How comical is it really?

McDonalds CEO:
150/15200000 = 0.00001
McDonalds worker:
(0.75)/16000 = 0.00005

Even at that discrepancy, it's still a lower percentage of his income from within the same company.

It's still very comical. What a potential pizza buyer makes has absolutely nothing to do with the cost of the pizza they want to buy.

To each according to his need, eh?

If the CEO is ignoring the "From each according to his ability" when it comes to wages, why shouldn't the worker ignore "to each according to his need" when it comes to prices? If anything, "to each according to his need" means we should help the worker, because even with a 99.5% discount he's still paying a higher percentage of his income for a pizza.

Thanks everyone for your posts - it's been interesting and easy to see how a government can have so many different opinions. That was the point of the post, to see how different people would solve the different problems - It is very complex and not as easy as it looks to solve some of the problems.

???

I don't follow, I'm suggesting we ignore both statements "from each according to his ability" and "to each according to his need"

I was being sarcastic when I said "to each according to his need" in my prior post.

So please explain to me how pricing would work under a system like this?

CEO pays $250 for the pizza, employee pays $0.05...but wait, now wal-mart has too much money because they just sold a $4 pizza for $250. So to even that out, they have to pay triple what K-mart does for their shipments of frozen pizzas...but wait, now the trucking company has too much money because they just got a triple payment from wal-mart...

This goes on until eventually the government has the money...which is the end result of socialism...transfer of true wealth from the individual to the collective (government)

Stopped reading after the second point was wrong.

Assuming (Just assuming) that Walmart has 36,000,000 in sales each hour.
that's 600,000 a minute.
Now their are 8,970 Walmarts
So each Walmart is only bringing in $66 bucks a minute Gross.
They still have to pay
Taxes
Rent / Mortgage
Utilities
Payroll
Payroll Taxes
And all the merchandise they sell.

Given that your initial numbers are off (And Unsourced), why should we continue to read the rest?

Oh, there is plenty of rebuttal out on the web for this chain email, unfortunately there are issues of language in a few.

Here is one:
Reply to Walmart versus government morons email « markjohnhunter

There is so much wrong with the email besides it's simplistic presentation of 'facts'.

look at Walmart - low pay, many hired less than full time, poor benefits. ..... stuff like:

Wal-Mart bribery probe follows years of lawsuits | Amarillo Globe-News

A U.S. probe of possible bribery in Mexico by a Wal-Mart Stores unit to boost store growth follows more than a decade of allegations that the company violated laws on illegal immigrant workers, overtime, gender bias and preservation of evidence in pursuit of larger profits.
The world’s largest retailer frequently has been sued by the government, its own employees and its customers in cases that also have included accusations of corruption, as well as discrimination and destruction of evidence.
“Wal-Mart’s had a long history of legal conflict because they have a way of doing business that pushes the edges of what the law allows,” said James Post, a professor at Boston University School of Management. “Sometimes it goes over the line.”
The Justice Department is investigating potential criminal charges under the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, according to a person familiar with the probe who wasn’t authorized to speak publicly about the matter. Alisa Finelli, a Justice Department spokeswoman, declined to comment.
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/04/business/pension-plan-sues-wal-mart-over-bribery-case.html

One of the nation’s largest pension plans filed a lawsuit Thursday accusing Wal-Mart’s leadership of breaching its fiduciary duty in connection with a bribery scandal at the retailer’s Mexican subsidiary.
Sexual Discrimination Lawsuit Against Wal-Mart Filed In Texas - KDAF

A North Texas woman has become the name and face of a lawsuit againstWal-Martclaiming sexual discrimination.
Luana Roach is one of seven women who were named in the lawsuit filed in Texas last week. Her attorney said the seven women were representing thousands of former and current Wal-Mart employees who said they were denied equal pay and were passed over for promotions.
About 80% of Walmart employees only get minimum wage. They have little to no health insurance and no job security

If we do not want a middle class, and only want folks to be poor barely making it to the next paycheck and dependent on freebies that are meagerly handed out by the rich - then Walmart is your choice. They remind me of China - and they get most of their goods from there.

Wal-Mart vs. The Morons (NOT A JOKE)

Just a minor point: until recently Wal Mart employees were some of the biggest users of public health services because Wal Mart decided stiffing their employees on that and putting the tax payers in charge of supporting their healthcare was a good idea.

So if you like welfare programs then definitely Wal Mart would like you.

Ever wonder how Wal Mart does all those wonderful things you mention up in the list?

BY DRIVING US COMPANIES EITHER OFFSHORE OR OUT OF BUSINESS.

How many "American Made" Huffy bikes can you get now?

Oh wait, Wal Mart made them slash their prices so harshly that ultimately an American Company had no other choice but to offshore!

Yay American Bizness Know how!

To President Obama and all 535 voting members of the Legislature

Intersting because you then proceed to complain about things that predate Obama's administration by almost 2 centuries.

Yay blatant political hackery.

If you want to hold people accountable simply look in the mirror. It is all of us. WE elected all the presidents in the last 2 centuries. WE voted in presidents with different views to "fixing" problems etc. WE elected the congresspeople and told them to get more money back to us but make sure little goes to our neighbors.

WE are helping to drive the US POstal Service into the ground by reliance on e-mail, FedEx, UPS (you know that whole "Free market" thing is so inconvenient) --I hear a lot about this because my brother is a newly retired postal worker.

This is not to say Government isn't responsible for stupidity and criminal abuses. But that's both sides of the aisle.

So please, just next time, don't limit your diatribe forwarding to just Obama. There's more than enough blame to go around.

Burger King should run our country.

You get all the same profit-gainings of Wal-Mart, and the added bonus of this guy giving you your state of the union speeches.

Hey guys - lighten up - it's for discussion - we couldn't change anything if we wanted to. Why make everything so serious - it was a point of interest only.

Sharon,
I'm sorry but your unrelenting anti-Obama points grow tiring. The fact that whatever sources you get these things from seem to always focus on Obama Obama Obama yet relate to things pretty much every elected politician in the last century has been related to in one way or another grow very painful to see.

It isn't light. Maybe you are being "humorous"? I can't tell because you post these all the time. Somehow the problems of the US Postal Service have to do with OBAMA????

Maybe I missed the joke there. I can see how using Wal Mart as a virtue for running government would be hilariously funny because it is so grossly inappropriate. But I didn't see that in the original OP.

I just see more and more and more anti-Obama stuff. As if George W. or George HW or Ronald Reagan or Nixon or Ford or anyone with an "R" after their name is somehow in no way responsible for anything bad.

Please don't tell us what to feel. If you post something and it was intended to be humorous accept the fact that not everyone is going to take the joke that way. At that point you do a mea culpa and either drop it or discuss the points.
