Vatican confirms excommunication for US dissident group

Dec. 7, 2006 (CWNews.com) - The Vatican has confirmed an American bishop’s decision to excommunicate members of the dissident group Call to Action.

Call to Action is “causing damage to the Church of Christ,” wrote Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re (bio - news), the prefect of the Congregation for Bishops, in a letter to Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz of Lincoln, Nebraska.

In March 1996, Bishop Bruskewitz had announced the excommunication of all Catholics in his diocese who were members of Call to Action or several other dissident groups which he described as “totally incompatible with the Catholic faith.”

I've heard about "Call To Action" and wasn't quite sure what the organization was all about until I read this on their website:

http://www.cta-usa.org/index2.php?dest=history.html

What was really eye openning was this part of the page:

"We appeal to the institutional church to reform and renew its structures. We also appeal to the people of God to witness to the Spirit who lives within us and to seek ways to serve the vision of God in human society.
  • "We call upon church officials to incorporate women at all levels of ministry and decision-making.
  • "We call upon the church to discard the medieval discipline of mandatory priestly celibacy and to open the priesthood to women and married me...so that the Eucharist may continue to be the center of the spiritual life of all Catholics.
  • "We call for extensive consultation with the Catholic people in developing church teaching on human sexuality.
  • "We claim our responsibility as committed laity, religious and clergy to participate in the selection of our local bishops, a time-honored tradition in the church.
  • "We call for open dialogue, academic freedom, and due process.
  • "We call upon the church to become a model of financial openness on all levels, including the Vatican.
  • "We call for a fundamental change so that young people will see and hear God living in and through the church as a participatory community of believers who practice what they preach."o Action" and their ultimate goals.
Behind their touting of "good works" is a rebellious thread to undermine the traditions and doctrines of the Church. Those who find "Call To Action" appealing because of their "good works" need to really understand the ultimate goal of the organization.

Thank you for sharing that. I can see good qualities in a few of these, particularly the first and sixth point, however the second one disturbs me and the third shows a lack of knowledge on how much has already been said on human sexuality, especially through his greatness John Paul II in his Theology of the Body. Dissent against Church teachers is both clearly and implicitly within all of the points they try to accomplish (the first and sixth could be and is used in the Church -- particularly the Local Church, although not in the same way that Call To Action is probably asking)

I thought that group for those goals was called The Episcopal Church. ^_^

Boston Globe referred to "Call to Action" as a Catholic social justice group just a few days ago. What will the media do when it no longer has false flag operations such as Soros's "Catholics for a Free Choice" and other groups to give a misleading "progressive" impression of the church to non-Catholics (and perhaps a few Catholics too)?

Starting reporting on what archbishops Chaput, Burke and Bishop Brushewitz say? Wouldn't that be something, huh?

Stephanie Block writes on the connections between Call to Action and the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF):

http://www.catholicculture.org/docs/doc_view.cfm?recnum=1318

What is the Industrial Areas Foundation?

Ethics from Hell

The Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF) was begun by Saul Alinsky, who wrote:
"Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very first radical; from all our legends, mythology, and history (and who is to know where mythology leaves off and history begins — or which is which), the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom — Lucifer." — Saul Alinsky, dedication. Rules for Radicals

Alinsky meant what he said. The "ethics" he proposed to his community organizers was straight from hell:
"The third rule of the ethics of means and ends is that . . . the end justifies almost any means." — Saul Alinsky, Rules for Radicals (chapter "Of Means and Ends")
Little has changed in the IAF's arsenal of "ethics."

Note: Hillary Clinton wrote her college thesis on Saul Alinsky.
