We control the airspace, everyone knows this. Allowing Turkish planes to come in and bomb Kurdish villages because some who are from those villages are suspected of having ties to the PKK, is foolish.

The Kurds supported us against Saddam in Desert Storm, we left and Saddam made them pay dearly. The Kurds support us now, and we allow the Turks to turn thier villages into rubble.

With friends like us, who needs enemies.

Ummm... the PKK is a terrorist organization by every definition of the word. It made the list before Al-Qaeda even existed.

While taking unpopular and unfounded stances is old-hat for us, this would be particularly damaging to the government's credibility. The heavy-handed approach that Turkey is taking will raise some ire amongst neutral Kurds thus the US government is less likely to openly endorse or support Turkey's actions. Keep in mind that the PKK is a minority group in Kurdistan. The Peshmerga, the de facto Kurdish military, are the main group the US military works with to maintain stability in Kurdistan. They already have a history of fighting against the PKK and are the reason the PKK doesn't retreat entirely into Iraq.

In conclusion:
Attacks on PKK /= attacks on Kurdistan as a whole

There are no military bases to target, there are only villages which are believed to be sympathetic to the PKK. I hate the KKK, there are towns in Mississippi and Louisiana that are very sympathetic to the KKK and support them, sometimes even the police chief and mayor are members. I don't think that justifies bombing the towns into the stone age though. I would object to that even though I hate the Klan.

If Turkey is attacked by the KKK, and towns in the south hide them, we would weed them out and turn them over to Turkey.
As should the Kurds.

The KKK doesn't regularly attack nations, so nations aren't asking us to turn KKK over to them.

Lets look at the facts:
Kurdish rebels attack Turkey repeatedly and flee back to
the village to hide behind innocent women and children.
Then get upset because the women and children are killed by the Turkish AF, that we allow to fly in our controlled air space.
We are talking about promoting peace. Turkey could easily attack on the ground and escalate the situation.
Imo Turkey should have a force ready to cut off the rebels before they can get back to the villages, And cut them down like the rats they are.

What ever the dispute with Turkey, does not warrant
sneak attacks and then running to hide behind the skirts and kids to protect them.
If the Turks were attacking the Kurds unprovoked I would side with you on this. But the Kurds brought this
rain of death on the villages themselves.

According the following source the villages that were attacked were deserted. I assume that means they were deserted of regular non-terrorist residents.

Turkey claims major airstrike on PKK

December 26, 2007

ANKARA: The Turkish military claimed to have inflicted massive losses on Kurdish rebels in bombing raids in northern Iraq, as Iraqi Kurds reported a fresh Turkish air strike.
