Perpetual guilt was the only thing on the syllabus, but we called it perpetual responsibility because it held up the illusory carrot of hope against the impossible ideal of being guilt free.
Not that anybody wouldn't want to be that, but if we lose our perspective we get out of balance & end up out of control.
