Most are probably aware of the symbolism of Passover and the children of Israel's exodus from Egypt. There are just a couple of points I would like to make as regards a) what they teach about what we must do to be saved and b) how the events of the exodus correlate to the order of salvation under the new covenant.

— On the first Passover, the children of Israel killed the lamb putting the blood over their door so that death would pass over the firstborn. The death angel of judgment would not see the sin but the blood of the lamb, right? This is what they HAD TO DO to be saved. What, then, corresponds to this under the new covenant? Repentance calling on the name of Jesus Christ for salvation is what applies the blood to our sin..

— The next morning, the children awoke to righteousness (~ 1Cor 15:34) and as they left Goshen — they were out of the place of bondage to sin, Goshen, but not separated from Egypt, the world, yet. That's when they were BAPTIZED with the cloud. This is like our baptism of the Spirit in Acts 2:38. But notice this about that baptism:

1) It was cloud/Spirit by day and fire by night. Hmm. "And He [Christ] will baptize you with the Spirit and with fire." Mt 3:11, etal. Do you suppose John the Baptist might have preached a sermon on their "baptism with Moses in the cloud and in the Sea?" (1Cor 10:2) The cloud and fire = the Holy Spirit!

2) Notice this, too. The cloud was with them (but to us — "but He shall be IN you" Jn 14:17) all the way to the Promised Land - heaven!! OSAS, right? Now this is something God did to them .. not that they did to themselves.

3) Notice that the cloud saved the children from Pharaoh and his armies (or for us, from Satan and his demons — Satan has no power over you) so that they could not drive the children into the Sea.

— Next, they stood on the shore of the Red Sea .. they were still part of the world system that was, Egypt. What could separate them from the world? Their baptism in the Sea — water baptism! Their going across dry-shod into the wilderness and beyond to the land they were promised! Now they were separated as an elect people whom God was going to deal with and bless!

So what do we now see in Acts 2:38? Repent — APPLY the blood — and be baptized by the Spirit. And what about Acts 2:41? "Save yourselves from this untoward generation" [world] in water baptism into the church.

Once again we must stress that salvation is CONDITIONAL now as it was then! We MUST turn from our sin nature submitting our spirits to God for salvation.

You make a fatal mistake once again by not reading the passage. You read as though God said that when you see the blood He will pass over you but that isn't what he said. He said when I see the blood I will pass over you. Salvation isn't when you see and apply the blood it is when God sees the blood and passes over you.

Umm. Who puts the blood on the lintels? Who slays that lamb?

Or, Calvinist version(?), were they just to believe it was on the lintels when it wasn't?

Faith is active. You a trying to paint a false caricature of Calvinism. If you don't actually know what Calvinists believe you need to learn. If you do then you are being dishonest.

BTW you skipped over the actual way the Scriptures put is as usual. You seem to refuse to deal with any argument except to just dismiss it. Go learn what legitimate honest debate is and then perhaps we can talk.

After salvation — yeah. They try to follow Jesus, for sure! They are very ardent, a lot of them, on sanctification. It's just that justification is missing.

Tell me .. please.
