That is disturbing, and there are many, many more in a similar situation. There are mega churches in and around Charlotte, for example, which are only one or two notches better than this. They have exchanged teaching and learning with experience. and filling seats.

Is Bethel a cult? Maybe. They're so far out there that they had to break away from the Assemblies of God and strike out on their own as a non-denominational church. That's basically like Lex Luthor being cast out of the Legion of Doom because his crimes were too much for them.

The state of the church is saddening, and with relativism in the air we breath, you can't even try to correct this stuff. If you do you will be slapped with judging or being a hater. Everyone claims his or her person truth, and they get away with that by turning Christianity from essentially doctrinal to completely experiential. You can't disagree with the whacky ideas they got from their "personal Jesus", because they claim to have experienced it. Texts of scripture as useless in correcting them, as the "had a word" or a "vision" or a "warm feeling all over". . .

Again, this is an extreme case, but many, many megachurches are on the same path.
